His second season...
Warming up for the first game of his second season, Steve felt better than ever! In the recent draft, Warriors drafted Kay Thomson, Draymend Green. All whom became starters in this season. The coach reiterated the game plan, insisting that if they stick to the game plan, they can win the game easily.
Playing against Cavs, the game starts with the vet point guard, Serviet, controlling the game. Five points for him, just 3 minutes into the game. But the team barely clings on as the game progressed. As the game went on, it was obvious the 6 point lead was going to be cut into a deficit. Wih just two minutes left in the quarter, Serviet turns the ball over, with the scoreboard saying 23-32. Draymend Green was quick to chase down the one man fast break, blocking the layup! He brought the ball to half court, dishes it to Kay instead of Serviet and SPLASH! Kay revived the team spirit! The team looked fiercer than ever, and it was obvious that the problem wasn't the game plan but rather, Serviet. Buzzer sounds, they head towards the bench and the coach replaced Serviet with Steve. They talk through cutting motions and screens and Warriors were ready to destroy the Cavs. Cavs were pretty strong, with Lebran James carrying them. The Warriors easily gained an early lead with Steve's incredible shooting. Scoreboard says 49-37, and Lebran decided to end the game quickly since the Cavs were in bad position.
"Steven Carey! What a steal!", the commentators were going crazy as Steve was on fire! But Lebran has other plans... He chases Steve on the fast break and BLOCK! He blocks Steve from making the layup! The crowd goes WiLd!! And the game turned around from this point. Lebran went jamming the ball into the hoops all around and blocking the ball 3 times in the 2nd quarter! Halftime, the score was 62-68, a huge turnaround. With his 3pt% in the current game being 80%, 4/5, the coach gave Steve the greenlight and told him to go destroy mode on Cavs. With a determined focus, he channels all his energy into his shooting form. The game went on with them scoring back and forth, Steve not yet showing much on the scoreboard. The 3rd quarter ended, Cavs still leading by 6, Steve still focused to turn it around in the 4th. When the 4th started, it was started off by Steve with a THREE! At this point he had already scored 7/10 and decides to go for more. The defense were quick but Lebran was too much for them and they could only rely on their offensive strength. The next few possesions were the worst of the Cavs. Steve blasted one from downtown. And another... once more and a quick one from the logo! The Cavs had 2 turnovers and one missed layup in just 4 minutes...
Now the Warriors lead by 6 with just 5 minutes left, commentators screaming, "STEVEN CAREY CAREER HIGH 41 POINTS!!"
The last five minutes weren't clutch for the Cavs and they lost to the Warriors! Cavs couldn't believe it but Warriors fans were celebrating for their comeback! Steve had 46 points at the end of the game and was interviewed by reporters about how he felt on his career high. Expressing all his emotions, he had tears of joy streaming down as Shannon burst out from the crowds to give him a deserved hug. They embraced for at least a whole minute before separating apart. Steve goes into the locker room and had Shannon wait for him outside the stadium. His teammates invited him for a celebration for winning the first game of the season with a season-high, conflicting his plans with Shannon but he improvised. He brought Shannon along to celebrate, and the Warriors including Shannon had a long night before the next day...
The next stretch of season games were all ups as they had a 14 game winning streak, before finally losing to Heat 110-117, with their star player being, Wayne Wade. It wasn't surprising as Wade had an incredible season, hitting 40 points in two of his games this season! The following games would be easy sweeps as they cruise through the season with ease...
