THE HORRIBLE TRUTH!
Veronica screamed as Pennywise tackled her into the dingy ground. It disappeared, turning into a dark bubble surrounded her. It was silent, the cries of her friends trying to get to her completely drowned out by the cage she was put in. She was entirely alone.
Her sight was blocked by the darknesses. She couldn't even see her fingers that she held out in front of her. But she could feel the pressure as the walls enclosed in on her like a trash compactor. Panic fled through her veins as her heart rate competed in the Indy 500.
"Help!" She screamed, choking out the words through her tightened throat. She pressed her hands against the dark cloud. "Let me go you sick bastard!" Her fists pounded the clowns evil circle until she broke through, tumbling to the ground. Eddie was there, quickly grabbing her arm and her pulling her off the ground.
Adrenaline coursed through her, giving her a burst of energy to defeat the demon.
Pennywise then transformed into a giant, turning towards Mike. Its jaw unhinged releasing an array of charred hands. All of them beckoned for Mike, screaming out in terror. Mike held onto his pole, staggering back at the brute force of the hands clawing for him.
Stan saw an opportunity and took it darting past Bill to hit Pennywise right in its charred hands. It released its hold on Mikes weapon of choice and turned to the Uris boy.
It turned into the painted lady Veronica has seen earlier and charged at the curly headed boy. Stan closed his eyes and swung with great accuracy, knocking the clown back.
Veronica eyed a piece of broken PVC pipe, the end sharp enough to go though someone's skull. She quickly bent down and grabbed it.
At the same time, her and Mike went for it. Veronica stabbed the clown through the stomach while Mike went for the head. Veronica darted out of the way as the demons body swiveled around. Unfortunately for the Hanlon boy the clowns arms grew into sharp talons, digging into the ground. He rolled away as Ben screamed for him.
Taking a stab of courage, Ben ripped a sharp post out of the ground beside him and thrust it into the middle of the clown. It cried enraged, but startled. Veronica watched in disgust as it began to convulse, a black liquid poring out of its chest, floating upwards, and evaporating in the air.
Pennywise swiveled its head around, turning into a mummy. It wrapped bandages around Bens head, trying to pull him into its mouth.
Bill quickly grabbed a chain from the ground and hit the demon. Veronica decided to take another stab at it, using the PVC pipe to pierce the clowns white cracking 'flesh.' If you could even call it that. She was so sick of being tormented by it. It had almost killed her, and letting it get another try was not on her bucket list.
Richie also hit the clown with his bat, and Bill again with the chain.
Pennywise doubled over, getting on all fours, and coughing, its body heaving. It faced Eddie, and smiled ever so tauntingly before turning into the leper and spewing out a wave green and black slush all of the poor boy. Veronica covered her mouth in disgust. Eddie spit up the liquid before pulling himself up on his feet.
"I'm gonna kill you." He screamed with a furious shake of the head. He charged at Pennywise. Veronica tumbled out of Eddies way as he clocked the clown right in the face. It rolled over and shape shifted once more. This time bearing the head of Bevs father.
"Hey Bevvie, are you still my little g—" He started to ask, in a creepy, incest kinda way. Enraged, but no longer afraid, Bev screamed shoving a pole down her father's throat. The clown seemed to glitch. Struggling to transform back into its circusy self. It's features slowly appeared on Mr. Marsh's face before the clown got an enough strength to spit the pole out.
"Holy shit!" Eddie cried. Making strangled sounds, the clown slowly scrambled backward, trying its best to get away from them. Veronica couldn't help the small smirk that formed on her face as the clown trembled, moving until it was backed against the basin of the well.
It laughed. Bill neared the clown alone, everyone else a couple paces behind.
"That's why you didn't kill Beverly," he locked eyes with Veronica, whose head bowed in embarrassment. "Cause s-s-s-s-she wasn't afraid and we aren't either, not anymore. Now you're the one that's afraid, because you're gonna starve." Bill said. The made a squelching sound before it flipped over into the well, its hands gripping the edge.
"He thrusts his hands against the post...and still insists he sees the ghost. He thrusts his hands against the p-p-p-p-post." Pennywise taunted hauntingly. Stan handed Bill his pipe piece. Veronica gripped Eddies arm, watching with bated breath as Bill adjusted his grip. Before he could swing the clowns grip slipped. And without another notice its forehead started to chip away into pieces, floating into the sewer air and turning to dust.
"Fear..." it whispered before tumbling into the abyss below. Bill scrambled to the edge, the others following. As Veronica peered down into the well, she saw nothing. It was gone and with it went her adrenaline.
The sewer was engulfed in an eerie silence. The clown was gone but its presence was still felt. It was felt in the piles of items around them. It was felt in the floating kids and it was felt in Veronica's bones. She wasn't sure if she would ever be able to get rid of the feeling of death on her.
"I know what I'm doing for my summer experience essay." Richie remarked breaking the tension that held them at a standstill. Veronica's upper lip twitched before she turned to Eddie and hugged him tightly. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Bill do the same to Bev. Eddie pressed a kiss to her temple.
"We're okay," he whispered. Veronica nodded into the crook of his neck. Suddenly he pulled away with sharp gasp.
"What? Eddie what is it?" Veronica asked in a low, but panicked whisper.
"Hey guys. The kids are floating down." Eddie pointed out. Everyone turned around and sure enough kids all sizes and ages had begun to make the ascent towards the ground. Veronica chewed on her bottom lip, watching unsurely. Were they dead? Or almost dead like she was?
But when she saw Bill fall in a corner, she knew. She knew they were dead. Carefully he picked up a tattered yellow raincoat. Georgie's raincoat.
He began to tremble. Richie made his way over first, begin careful to wrap his arm around his friend. Veronica's stomach dropped and she felt her own throat close up, burning with unshed tears. She quickly followed the Tozier boys pursuit and sat next to Bill, placing a hand on his knee.
"Bill, I'm so sorry," she whispered as all the others gathered around Bill as well. The losers club sat in silence, with only Bills muffled sobs wracking through the air. They sat like that for a while, taking in the horrors they had seen and experienced. They were trauma bonded, something that would keep them together for the time being.
