A BLOOD OATH!

It was early September when they met up again. School was a week away, and the air was still hot and humid. Derry, Maine seemed to exhale, releasing whatever breath it had been holding since the disappearance of Georgie Denbrough the previous October. Still Veronica felt the clowns presence over her shoulder, as if it was watching her. Waiting for the perfect moment to return and finish her off. It left her uneasy, even though she tried to not show it.

Over the course of the month she and Eddie had started to date, hanging out whenever they could, mostly whenever Eddie could escape the clutches of his overbearing mother. Lucas hadn't stopped his teasing either, but ye did admit to her Edward Kaspbrak was way better than Henry Bowers ever was.

Now, the group sat at the barrens on a couple logs of wood. Bev had called Veronica letting her know that she was moving to Portland with her aunt. Just as Veronica had finally found a female friend, a true friend, she was being torn away from her. Oregon was far, completely across the country. Bev had also told her about what she experienced while being in Pennywise's daze.

Unlike Bev, Veronica had no memory, no recollection of what happened. One minute she was staring at the dead lights and the next Eddie was giving her CPR. She remembered nothing but its cold presence.

"I only remember parts, but...I thought I was dead. That's what it felt like," Bev paused, taking in the weary faces of her friends. Stan had bandages wrapped around his head, and Eddie still sported his cast, but they were alright. "I saw us, saw us together, back in the cistern, but we were older...I mean our parents ages." She continued quietly. Veronica felt a chill run through her spine, the clown taunting her. She inhaled sharply, he wasn't gone. Her hand lightly grasped Eddies non-broken hand for comfort. He looked at her worriedly, but she shook her head.

"W-w-w-what were we all doing there?" Bill asked her. She bit her lip, studying the weeds that mingled with the grass. Her red hair seemed to sparkle in the sunlight.

"I just remembered how we felt, how scared we were. I don't think I can ever forget that." Bev said, her gazing focused on her shoes. Whatever Bev had seen, whether it was the future or just nightmare, it didn't bode well.

Bill suddenly stood up, his eyes wide with alarm. He met Veronica's gaze and she nodded. The clown would come back. He picked up a jagged piece of glass, part of an old coke bottle.

"Swear it. S-swear if It isn't dead, if It ever comes back, we'll come back too." He said. Bill spoke with such urgency, it made it hard not to listen to him. Bev and Veronica locked eyes. They had to do this. Slowly her and Bev stood. It almost killed her and it had killed so many others, tearing family's apart. She was what it did to the Denbroughs and she didn't want anyone else to go through that trauma, that heartbreak.

She extended her hand to Eddie and pulled him up. She gazed down at Mike, convincing him to his feet with her. Soon everyone was up and standing in a circle.

Bill started with himself, taking the shard of glass and cutting a clean line into his flesh. He moved into Richie who hissed in pain gripping his hand. Then Bill cut Eddies palm, ignoring how his watch went off. Bill then approached Veronica. She held out her hand for him to cut into her tanned skin. She grimaced upon impact. The glass shard sliced through her palm, creating a pool of sticky, crimson blood. Tears leaked from the corners of her eyes, call her a wimp or whatever but she didn't have a very high tolerance for pain.

Bill continued down the line, slicing each on of their palms. Each members face screwed up with pain, apart from Bev who remained stoic as ever. Veronica was impressed, that could not be her.

It was silent as Bill returned to his spot between Bev and Richie. One by one they gripped each other's hands, the non bloody hand mixing with blood. Veronica took Eddie and Mikes hands. Eddie's blood hitting her palm, and her blood coating Mikes.

They stayed like that for a moment, basking in each other's company, sealing an oath they hoped they wouldn't have to use.

"I gotta go..." Stan said disconnecting his hands from Ben and Stan. The Uris boy turned to Bill, "I hate you." His face stone cold as he spoke. Bill frowned, trying his best to read his friend's face. After a moment Stans cracked a smile, trying hard not to burst into laughter. The group chuckled, so unserious after such a dark summer. "I'll see you later."

And with those final words Stan departed from the group, vanishing into the woods. Veronicas neck tingled as he went. She didn't know it yet, but Stan wouldn't return to complete the oath.

"Hey Eds, do you want to come over? Lucas is making steaks," Veronica asked her boyfriend. He nodded before turning to Richie. The two hugged, the Tozier boy patting him on the back.

"Bye guys," Eddie said, leaving the circle the same way Stan did moments prior.

"See yall in school," Veronica told them. Her brown eyes wandered to Bev, her lips downturned. Taking a step toward the redhead she threw her arms around her. "I wish you weren't leaving." She whispered.

"I know, me too," Bev told her, releasing the hug. Veronica offered her one last sad smile before meeting up with Eddie at the edge of the woods.

"What a hell of a summer it's been, huh Eds." She connected their hands.

"I wouldn't change it for the world." Veronica frowned, her pace faltering.

"Why's that?" She asked. Eddie smiled.

"Because I would have never gotten to meet the real Ronnie." With that Veronica placed her lips to his. Okay, maybe the summer was pretty alright.

A/n it's over! And yes I'm sorry that these Let chapters are short. But I got a push to get this book done and now it is so thank you everyone for all your votes and support.

yay rewrite complete! sorry it took me so long, i forgot i multiple times that i was working on it and that i had unpublished the unedited ones (something i used to not do). thanks for bearing with me. for those reading it for the first time thank you, and to those who read the original version way back when. the story is still no where near where i would like it to be, but that would mean i would have to completely change the plot. but this version is 10x better and more enjoyable writing wise then the original, so im happy with it.
