Lunch Lines

Alex's POV

As I take in a deep breathe of the hot, crowded cafeteria I stand in a line of road men wannabes. I hear a year 7's squeaky voice asking me for a 'scrap' but of course, I don't reply. I'm a year 11 and now I kinda just want to get out of this place as soon as possible. I'm so tired of being picked on by my bullies. As soon as that thought crossed my mind, someone shoved me out of the lunch line, claiming my spot as theirs. Who needs to eat anyways? I started walking out of the cafeteria with my head hanging low, making sure nobody recognised me. It's kind of hard not to notice me though, I'm the only year 11 who's short and has a bad haircut so that's how George and Will jump up behind me. "Alex!" They both say in unison. Hugging me in a tight grip, they both smile at me. "There is a cute girl in my class called Mia and I heard she likes me!" Screamed Will "Yeah, and I'm still lonely!" George grumbles. We all laugh at George's sudden change in mood. "Aren't we all?" I chuckle, gaining the attention of two of my bullies. "Whatcha' laughing at, weirdo?" Tom snickers whilst wearing his music-blaring AirPods. "Probably some gay joke!" Chad pats me on the back a couple of times, the last one knocking me to the floor. "You guys are just jealous he has better grades than you both" George shoves a fist at them, getting very angry. Tom and Chad both run away in fear of George. He has quite a bad reputation of hurting people. "I can stand up for myself, George..." I mumble. Rolling his eyes, all three of us walk outside.

"So that's why I know that I love Mia!" Will explains, looking up into sky with a joyful smile. "Well I'm pretty happy with being single!" George fake smiles, obviously envious of Will's love life. I give Will a nice thumbs up as a sort of 'thats good news' gesture. George folds his arms in anger, very upset about the fact that he didn't get a thumbs up. I give him a nice and warm hug before heading off to class. I put my hands in my pockets and walk slowly to my next lesson.
