"To open your heart to someone means exposing the scars of the past."

Anusha was feeling giddy and happy at the same time. At least this time she is doing whatever she wants. That is good. Standing there for a few minutes made her more giddy and she wobbled slightly. So she sat down on her ripped couch.
Alvin was still standing in the doorway, rooted to the spot with a blank expression. He found her amusing at first but now he was partially shocked. He was contemplating the idea whether to stay or not.

What was he going to do with a drunk Anusha in the middle of the night??

Anusha smiled again and tapped the space near her on the couch.

'Come, sit.. I won't bite you'

she was looking at him with intense eyes, he finally let go the uncertainty and walked to her side and sat down.

'Good.. that's my boy '
she gave him a sultry smile that made him to rethink his decision to stay.

Anusha was pouring more wine to her glass, he was watching her in silence. He actually didn't know what to say, so opted for silence.

'Do you want some. The wine is good'

She asked him tilting her head.
He nodded in response and she filled the second glass as if on cue. She handed him one glass and clinked her glass with his.

'To all the shitty things happening in my life'
she said and sipped her wine.

Alvin stifled a smile. It was the first time he had heard Anusha cursing. It was unexpected from her.
Well..this is his first time seeing her drunk, so he isn't sure about what a drunk Anusha could do.
But this version of Anusha was definitely funny. He thought himself and took a sip.

'Umm.. wine is good. Where did you get this one??'he asked while sipping his drink.

'That is my Christmas gift from Arlene' she purred.

'Arlene..okay. But Christmas is weeks away.. why are you drinking it now?'

'I am doing what Arlene told me to do..' she grinned and winked.

'What? She told you get drunk today????' he was confused now.

'Noo..she gifted me the wine, candles, glasses. She told me to listen to my heart not to my brain and she wanted me to party with you.
I am doing all that.. candles are burning, glasses are being used and you are here.'
she giggled but it was forced and that made him uneasy.

She was not simply following Arlene's instructions. There was something else going on. He never tried to prod her but today he decided to take a chance.

'So tell me Anusha, what on earth happened that you are drinking at midnight?' he asked eyeing her red face.
She was wearing a beige and green coloured flannel pajama with a picture of bunny on her chest with a huge note and it read,

'You can count on me'.

'Wow.. what an irony..she is kind of losing it now'

he chuckled himself. Anyway she was looking adorable and a bit funny so he didn't mind her ironical slogan.

'This is my pity party.. nothing is going good' Anusha shook her head.

'Pity party?? I thought you were happy when we came back. We all had a great time, and party was good. Am I wrong?' he asked looking her again.
