Alvin sat on the cold metallic chair Infront of the OR of Hamad general hospital. The white tiles and marbles covered the walls and floors and he felt the cold waiting area chilling him into his bones. The area was eerily quiet except for the bare whispers  of some nurses and bystanders passing through the area. Akki and Rashi was on their way to hospital and Arlene has called him too,  but Alvin was too detached from them, that he couldn't comprehend what they said to him. He sat their in a daze, too shocked to process anything.
Alvin still didn't know how the accident happened,Anusha had pushed him to the ground with all her strength and within seconds the trucks breaks screeched and he heard a thud. It was over within seconds and he took a second what had happened Infront of his eyes. When he ran towards Anusha, all he could see that the blood, the blood coming out from Anusha which soaked the muddy road beneath her. He had called her name frantically to get a response, all he could hear was a barely audible croon of her sound. Then everything happened quickly. Another car from the site approached them, some one called the emergency numbers. There were ambulance and police vehicles within ten minutes. They had brought her here and took her to the theatre. The police had called Akki and his uncle and then they had called Alvin. All he could tell them was that , they took Anusha away. He said that over and over to them and disconnected the call. The police needed his statement but seeing him so disheveled, they decided to wait until their guardian came. So he was left alone in the waiting area outside the OR.

Akki and Rashi came after sometime along with his uncle and aunty. Rashi was crying and Akki sat beside him. There wasn't much to talk, so they sat there in the waiting area in heavy silence. Anusha was still in surgery and there wasn't any updates about her condition. Alvin had got a deep cut on his arm caused by the fall, he had forgotten about his injury but when Akki noticed that, he took him to the emergency and he got treated there.    The police came and Akki and John uncle talked to them. Apparently the driver of the truck has been caught on the spot. They need Alvin's statement about the incident, so Akki and uncle took him to the police station. On the way back from the station, Akki asked him to go home and  get change since his shirt was spattered with blood here and there but Alvin wasn't sure about that. He wanted to be in hospital, so they didn't pushed him further. When they reached hospital , Anusha was still in the OR. It has been more than three hours and each passing second scared him. A part of him was analysing the most worst possible scenario and another part was reassuring him that she will be okay. After six long hours, the doctor came out to meet with the family.
The doctor was a tall stout man with grey hair. He smiled reassuringly to all and crossed his arms on his chest.

'You are Ms. Anusha's family, right?' he asked Akki who was the only one who looked composed among them.

'Yes we are... 'How is she?'  Akki replied trying to sound calm.

'Ms. Anusha is doing fine for now. She has a broken leg and broken arm and her two ribs are cracked. Since it wasn't broken, her internal injuries are minimal. She has a concussion in the brain, our neurosurgeon thinks that, her neuronal injuries are minor that we don't need a surgery. She was lucky I must say. The truck wasn't in its full speed when it hit her, so her injuries are much better than in  most such cases. But still, she had lost some blood , have lots of abrasions and cuts and she has a spinal injury too. It might affect her muscle function in her lower body. Let's see how she responds to the medication and how her sensations are affected. She has been shifted to the ICU now, you could meet her once she's  settled and stable. ' the doctor replied with a calm and gentle tone.

'Is she going to be okay?' Alvin asked him after a few seconds.

'inshaallah..( if God wills) . Let us hope so young man. If she wakes up soon and responds to the medicines well, she will be okay. Let's hope and pray for that.' he patted on his shoulder reassuringly. Then everyone thanked him and the doctor left to his office.
