Bethany shoved a breakfast sandwich down her throat and walked to the family room. She hesitated as she pulled her jacket off of the coat rack.

Bethany opened her house door and stepped onto the small porch. She looked at the porch swing for which seemed like minutes, then walked down the stairs, onto the cool, crisp sidewalk. Bethany began walking in the direction of the woods.

"How was your little detour?" asked Austin, when Bethany got back.

"Austin, do you think there are people in the forest?"

Austin looked at her like there was something wrong.
