(Another short one, sorry)
As we walked in I saw her dad sitting in the armchair in the living room. My anxiety set in, so I decided to stand in the doorway into the living room. Amber walked over and stood in front of her dad. I decided to go wait in the hallway a little ways away from them. I heard muffled talking for a few minutes before I could clearly hear sobs, but they weren't of sadness they were of acceptance. I decided to head out and let them have their moment, but as I was halfway down the driveway I heard someone coming up behind me. I turned to see Amber's dad speed walking towards me. He stopped in front of me and put a hand on my right shoulder, "Ace, I would like to thank you for saving Amber, who knows what would've happened to her if it weren't for you and the other two. I want you to protect her if this, heathen, comes near her."
"Yes sir, I promise to protect her." I answered. He nodded and walked back inside.
As I walked to the train station my phone rang. I saw it was Amber.
"Yo, you ok?" I asked when I answered
"Yeah, it felt good to get that off my chest, but I needed to tell you something and then ask you something. Firstly, thank you for being there it felt great having someone I trusted there to be support while telling my dad. Secondly, I would like to ask you to lunch tomorrow." She said
"Yeah, I'm down to grab some grub tomorrow. When and where?" I responded.
"Just meet me at the train station at noon and I'll decide then." She answered.
"Sounds good, I'll see ya at the station tomorrow." I said before we ended the call.
I rode the train back to the main city station and transferred to the train to my mom's place with a warm feeling inside. When I got home mom noticed I got home later than I should've. I explained we decided to get food and that's why I was late. I also told her about plans to get lunch with Amber, but told her it was Amber, Lucas, and Heidi. I collapsed onto my bed a few hours later and slept like a log.
