Chapter 3: The Bonfire

It was a quarter after 6. Penelope stood in front of her mirror with 2 sweaters in her hand. She held both sweater up to her as if she was wearing it. "Mmmm Black." She muttered to herself. She slipped on the black sweater and grabbed some blue ripped jeans out of her dresser. It was a cute and casual. Why the hell am I going crazy about picking an outfit?

She walked to the door and opened it hesitating quite a bit. There is absolutely nothing to be nervous about what are you doing Penelope!! She took a deep breath and headed out the door

In the woods the uptight shy girl sat on a log. The fire started about 30 minutes ago and there was no sign of Penelope. She's probably just running a bit behind, she thought to herself. Next to her sat her sister Lizzie. She was talking to some of the pack guys obviously flirting by pushing her blonde strands behind her ear. Josie rolled her eyes. Lizzie has always gotten attention from everyone. She's an extrovert and the total opposite of Josie.

Suddenly she saw her friend Mg appear from the other side of the fire. Mg was a handsome dark man. He was a vampire to which many were threatened by but if you really got to know him he's one of the sweetest guys you will ever meet. He spotted Josie and grinned as he made her way to her.

"Hey!"

"Hi Mg." Responded Josie a bit softer than usual.

Mg frowned, "is everything all right? You look a bit distracted." Mg pronounced.

Josie blushed. Her eyes were attached to something behind Mg. He followed her gaze and found himself staring at the Salvatore school's new girl. Quickly he grinned.

"Ahhhhhh I see.... the new girl."

"Hmmm what Mg? You're ridiculous." She got up from the log and made her way towards Penelope, with a grin on her face.

She was talking to the alpha, Jed. They were laughing about something and suddenly Josie started to hesitate. She wasn't jealous was she? No why would she be?

"Hey, you good?" Said Penelope and she turned to Josie. "I'll see you in class." said Jed as he started to run back to his pack.

"Yeah yeah yeah I'm good." Josie chuckled and look down at the ground. Stupid Josie so stupid.

"Great! Because you're coming with me!" Jumped Penelope.

"Woah what?"

Penelope grabbed her hand and dragged her deeper into the woods. It was pretty dark but the moon was bright enough for them to see. They walked in silence but once again there was no awkwardness.

"Where are we going?"

"You'll see."

They walked for about 5 more minutes until suddenly Penelope turned around and smiled. "We're here."

Penelope moved and ushered Josie forward. She took a few steps and finally viewed the beautiful lake in front of her.

"This is so beautiful. I had no idea this was here. How did you find this?"

Penelope smiled with her hands in her back pocket.
"I was bored on one of my firsts visits here and walked around."

Penelope sat down on a broken tree at the edge of the water and Josie followed. The moonlight glistened on the water and frogs chirped. Suddenly Penelope grabbed the younger witches hand making Josie flinch but she quickly relaxed.

"Thank you Penelope."

"For what?" The green eyes girl turned to Josie.

"Noticing me."

Penelope smiled.

"How could I not?"
