Chapter One ~ Sweet Sound of Possibilities
Natasha tugged on her leather jacket as she walks into the communal area of the Avengers compound, most of the Avengers were already there, except those who are either home or off training; The team alternate so not all the Avengers are out at a time, today seems to be Bruce, Tony, and Darcy's so called 'day off'. Which seemed pretty normal. Especially for Darcy. Natasha glanced around the vast room. It seemed pretty empty of life. She notably noticed Steve filling out some paperwork from his latest mission with T'challa and their team's other newest member, Peter Parker, who also known as Spider-Man, or as Natasha personally likes to call him, Stark Jr or little Spider. She and the young spider heroine have grown quite close and Natasha even has a sort of overprotective mother instinct towards him. Clint and Tony think it's super adorable. But, Natasha knows the real joke is on them. As both Iron Man and Hawkeye have the same overprotective and giant soft spot for some of their younger members, such as Wanda, Darcy, Vision and Peter. Especially, Peter." Romanoff," greeted Steve with polite smile as he looked up to see the redheaded assassin standing in the far corner of the large room. She smiled softly and weaved friendly at the old patriot. Natasha and Steve had come fast friends. Sure, neither were as close their personal best friends, Sam and Clint, but still close enough. They friendship has only grew with fall of Shield, the saving and proving innocence of Steve's soulmate James Barnes. " It's good to see you again. I was really thinking you ditched me to babysit Stark again."
" Please, we both know it's Brucie who babysits." Natasha retorted jokingly. Steve chuckled and shook his head. " Poor Brucie stuck with manchild."
" I wouldn't tell that to Tony."
" Or what? He'll have a tantrum?" She questioned the super solider with a wide smirk.
" Fair enough. So, how was your mission, that I'm assuming you were on."
" No mission." She admitted honestly which makes Steve raise in eyebrow in question. Natasha chuckled and shook her head. It was typical for her teammates to question her vacation days as rarely, if not almost never, takes them. Even though she might be one of the most who needs it. Needs time to just relax and unwind, instead of begging constantly on alert and tense. " Was out for a more personal matter."
" Searching for your soulmate?" He questioned curiously. The redheaded assassin chuckled awkwardly. Of course, Steve couldn't tell it was awkward as he barley ever hears Natasha laugh. She hates the topic of a soulmate. And it not that she doesn't have one. She does. Or at least according the large black tribal dragon tattoo on her back. The tattoo is even accented with little sliver stars and a sliver crescent moon. It's simply beautiful and according to Soulmate social worker she spoke to, it means she has two other soulmates due to the two different coloring of her tattoo. It's just weird for Natasha to think about. Two other people just prefect and made for her. Just causally out their living their (hopefully) best life. It just leaves her wondering what kind of people they are. If their just as broken, murderous, and guilt ridden as she is. As she feels.
" No. Extremely bad period actually. Embarrassing really, Black Widow was taken out by nasty period cramps, and a rather killer headache." She lied easily and rather believably. Natasha smirked as Steve looked away and blushed uncomfortably in embarrassment. The redheaded assassin knew it was easiest way to make him drop the question. " Do you know where Clint is? I need to talk him about an upcoming mission?"
" Yeah. Him, Buck, Wanda and Loki are training."
" Lovely..."
