Hiccup POV:
I went to the cove with a fish and a shield. The fish was to show that I don't mean any harm, and the shield was for protection. I got down to the ground and hid behind the shield in between two large rocks. I look around to if he was near, then I throw the fish to see if it would make, he come out. When he didn't, I walked forward only to get my shield stuck in between the rocks. I walk under it and try to get it unstuck, but it wouldn't budge. I left it and pick up the fish walking around waiting to see if he was around. After a while nothing happen but in the corner of my eye, I see the Night Fury on top of a rock looking at me carefully. Then it got in front of me and I notice he could smell the fish. I stick out the fish, his eyes become larger and he starts to get closer to me. But then his eyes went back to the thin silt and he growled at me. He noticed my dagger, I dropped it on the ground and picked it up with me my foot and throw it to the lake. His eyes got big again and sit up. I stick out the fish again and he come closer letting out a low growl. He opened his mouth and I saw that he didn't have teeth.
"Huh. Toothless. I could've sworn you had..." I said but his teeth suddenly appeared and snatches the fish.
"...teeth." I continued
Then he looked back at me and starts to approach me, making me fall and crawl backwards until my back was against a rock.
"Uh, uh, no, no, no. I-I don't have any more." I said.
But he started to gargle and the next thing a know half of the fish was on the lap.
"Ugh."
He leaned back and sat down, for couple of minutes we just stared at each other. Then he gestured toward the fish and I realized he wanted me to eat it. I sighed before slowing taking a bite, without swallowing I showed him that it was good. But he didn't believe me and wanted me to swallow it. I couldn't believe he wanted me to do this, but I swallowed it. I tried not to throw it back up and when I finally kept it down, I gave him a smile. But what he did next surprised me, he smiled back with a toothless grin. I reach up to touch him, but he growls at me with his teeth out and flies to the other side of the cove.
"Wow." I hear a voice says.
When I turn around, I see Talia sitting on top of the rock I was leaning on.
"When did you get here?" I asked her.
"When he made you eat that fish." She replied
I looked down a little embarrassed that she saw that, but I shook it off.
"I have to say I'm impressed, you were this close to touching him." She said.
I looked at her and saw that she was smiling at me.
"So, what are you going to do now?" she asked.
"I just gonna try and get close to him and see what happens?" I replied
"Okay, good luck." She said.
"You're not coming the me?" I asked.
"Nope, this is all you." she replied.
I nodded before heading to where the Night Fury was and sat next to him. He noticed me and turned his body making his tail fin cover his face. I inch closer trying to touch his tail, but he looks at me which made me stand up and walk to where Talia was. She was looking at me with an amused smile, I ignored her and sat down.
"So, I assumed it went well?" she asked.
"You know very well how it went." I replied.
"Don't worry Hiccup I'm sure he'll come around." she said trying to cheer me up.
I nodded and for a while we just sat and chatted. We see the Night Fury move around a bit until it hung upside down. I decide to draw him on the ground and then we noticed he was right next to us watching me drawing. Then he went to grab a branch with his mouth and started to draw lines on the ground. Talia laughed a little, when the branch hit my head. After he was done, he sat and admired his work making us do the same thing. I stood up and stepped on the line making him growl. After doing it a couple more times I walked on the spaces in between the line until I got out the space. I felt his breath on me from behind and turned around to see him. I extend my hand towards, but he growls at me moving away making me bring my hand back. I try again this time looking away, the next thing I know I feel his nose which made me catch my breath. I look at him seeing it was true. But he opens his eyes, and shakes his head before flying away again. I stood there not believing what just happened. Then I looked at Talia and saw her surprised look, from that point I realized that everything was going to change.
