"Hello? It's Jared Vasquez, I'm calling about Michaela Stone. She's bleeding,"

"Alright, about how long and is it excessive?"

"Maybe 5 minutes, and it's heavy enough that I'm not sure if we'll get to the hospital in time. What can I do?"

"Stay with her and help her breathe. Could you put me on the phone with her?"

"Hello?" Michaela asked with a shaky voice.

"Hi Michaela, it's Dr. Genser. You are having a miscarriage, which you already most likely figured. You need to remember that less than 2 months ago you were shot and were lucky to survive with the baby for this long. It is not your fault you are losing the baby, you just need to focus on keeping yourself healthy."

"Ok-" Michaela replied, her voice still shaking and her breath help to steady it. She handed Jared the phone again and he hung up, then sitting with Michaela, stroking her back as she sobbed for what felt like hours.

"Doctor Genser wants you to see her tomorrow... Mik, you are so strong, remember that. We're not completely ready to be parents, even if it felt like we were. I love you so so much, but we've barely figured out what's happening after 828. Ben told me about the expiration dates. We need to figure that out, because if we would've started a family our child would've lost their mom before they turned 6."
Jared stopped talking, he didn't seem to be helping, at least not from his perspective as Michaela was crying more. Truly, Michaela was crying more because she realized he was right. She never thought about how their baby could end up motherless at such a young age.

"You're right. We're going to figure out what the hell is happening and then fix it. Then I want to start a family with you, but not accidentally." Michaela leaned into Jared and he kissed her forehead. "I love you Jared."

"I love you too Mik."

Ben's phone rang. He picked it up, "Hey Saanvi what did you fi-. Oh. Yeah I can take you to therapy. I'll see you in 20."

Saanvi got in the car and they drove to the office in silence. They walked in the office.

"See her."

"What?" Ben asked, turning to Saanvi.

"I'm... I'm gonna go back to see her. My therapist."

"Ok." Ben sits down. Images flash through his mind. "She's coming."

"Thank you for coming to see me Miss Bahl. Next week at 3 pm?"

"Definitely." Saanvi said motioning for Ben to get up, "Ms. Joram this is Benjamin Stone."

"Hello Mr. Stone, it's nice to meet you," the woman extended her hand and Ben gladly shook it.

"She's here" those two words repeated through Ben's mind as he shook Ms. Joram's hand and as she spoke about Saanvi with Ben. All Ben could do was nod and say goodbye.

"What the hell Stone?"

"Something isn't right with her Saanvi," Ben whispered. Saanvi gave him a weird look. "When you went back for therapy I had a calling. It said 'she's coming' and then the both of you stepped out into the waiting area."

"Ben I was with her for an hour. You're completely sure you didn't fall asleep?"

"100% sure. I don't know what it is, but something isn't right." Ben and Saanvi got back in the car and drove away from the office. The window above where they parked, near the office, held a tall looming figure.

She's coming.

A few weeks had gone by and Michaela opted out of going back to the station for a while. Ben would stop by nearly daily to see her and bring food and such. After work one day, while Michaela was napping, Ben and Jared were talking about Michaela's mental health after loosing the baby.

"She's been pretty depressed since she lost the baby. I don't really know what I can do to help her."

"Well, when Mik and I were younger our parents would take us to the beach for no good reason. It was a 20 minute drive and some of Mik's favorite memories are there."

"You want me to take her and propose don't you?"

"No... Ok fine yes."

"Ben I already have a plan, but I think I might take her this weekend."

Ben nodded and headed out the door before it got too late. Jared headed up to bed, sliding under the sheets with a lightly snoring Michaela. She snuggled into Jared's arms and they fell asleep in each other's arms for what felt like the first time in years.

The weekend seemed to come in a blink of an eye for Michaela but took weeks to come for Jared. Jared knew he wasn't going to get home in time to take Michaela to her appointment, to hopefully get her back into working or leaving the house more, and take her to the beach Friday evening.

Jared opened the door to be greeted with the smell of pork chops and buttered noodles. Michaela was setting the table when he came in and out his things away. Jared walked over and wrapped his arms around Michaela's waist as she set the last of the silverware on the table.

"Hey," Michaela whispered, turning around.

"Your appointment is tonight. Hopefully the doctor officially lets you off bedrest."

"Yeah I hope so." Michaela smiled weakly and wrapped her arms around Jared's shoulders, burring her face into the space between his neck and shoulder.

"You ok Mik?"

"Yeah- I hope you don't mind that I invited Ben and Grace for dinner. Olive is watching Cal."

"That's totally fine Mik. I'm gonna shower," Jared replied, kissing Michaela's cheek before going upstairs.

The water shut off just before there was a knock on the door.

"Hi! Come on in." Michaela opened the door and hugged her brother and sister-in-law.

"Dinner smells delicious Michaela," Grace said, sitting at the table next to her husband. Jared came down the stairs and joined them, his hair still mildly damp.

"Thanks Grace," Michaela replied with a smile. Jared sat down and grabbed Michaela's hand.

Everyone began to help themselves to food while Grace filled her plate more than anyone. She only took one bite of noodles before excusing herself and running to the bathroom. Ben followed her as Michaela turned to Jared. She stood up and ran over to the hallway where the bathroom was.

"Is Grace ok?"

"Yeah she's fine. She just has a bit of-" Ben mumbled the end of his sentence.

"She has what? If she's sick you didn't have to come."

"Mik, Grace is pregnant."

"Oh- congratulations. Can you excuse me for a minute?" Michaela asked. Ben nodded and Michaela ran to the room she and Jared shared, locking the door behind her. She sank to the floor against the door and a few tears fell onto her lap.
