Why?

(Ruby's POV) -age 9

Why? Why does my family hate me? What did I do to deserve this? Why did mom have to leave me? I kept asking theses questions over and over in my head. I could fell myself going insane.

Tai: RUBY GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!!

I jump up and hurry out I'm my room when I got to the stairs I felt someone push me. When I looked up I saw Yang smirking at me.

Ruby: D-Da..

He smacked me before I could say a word.

Tai: Don't you dare call me dad you useless piece of shit! Now get cleaning!

Ruby: O-ok s-sir

I started cleaning the floor when Yang came over and knocked over a lamp and it broke.

Yang: DAD RUBY BROKE THE LAMP!

Tai: WHAT!!

My dad punched me in the stomach causing me to fall to the floor. He started kicking me over and over. I was struggling to stay conscious as he kept going.

Tai: You worthless fucking kid!

Raven and Qrow then walked in the house and stared me down.

Raven: Oh are we beating the brat again?

She walked over and kicked me into the wall. I looked towards Qrow, but he just drank from his flask and ignored me.

Ruby: P-Please s-stop...

She continued for what felt like hours. My whole body was sore and I could hardly move. She picked me up and pushed me into the kitchen.

Raven: Cook dinner NOW you brat!

I started to cooking their food, but I was in so much pain I couldn't reach anything to make the food taste better and burnt it a little.

I served them the food and stood there silently fearing what they are going to do when they don't like the food.

Yang: This is terrible!

Raven: Can't you do anything right!

Tai: Dumb brat are you trying to poison us!

Tai grabbed me by the arm and took me back to my room.He threw me on the ground and kicked me into the wall before he slammed the door shut. I crawled over to my mattress and started to cry. I laid there barely able to move, I just wanted the pain to go away.

I looked out my broken window and stared at the shattered moon. It made the glass shards on the ground twinkle under its light. I reached for a shard of glass and brought it to my wrist. Slowly sliding it across leaving a small cuts. It stung at first, but it felt so relieving.

I laid back down and watch my aura try to heal the cuts, but fail. The blood dripping down my wrist was mesmerizing. I thought about all the pain I had been through and started to cry.

Ruby: What did I do to deserve this? Why don't they love me?.. I wish you were here mom...

Yang: Shut up you useless piece of shit I'm trying to sleep!

I curled up in a ball and silently cried myself to sleep. Wishing things would change, for a new life.
