Deep in the forest of forbidden magic a black snake slithered in the shadows observing his prey. His dark pine colored scales seemed to absorb the small beams of moon light that filtered through the trees. Rapped around a branch he hid, awaiting the perfect moment to strike.

After many agonizing monuments the badger unknowingly stepped into striking distance. The snake flicked his tongue in anticipation and extended his long head preparing for the taste that meant victory. Suddenly, a flash of bronze feathers and black talons blocked his attack. Next thing he knew the snake was flying through the air, talons compressing his body. Not long after the grip of the bird released and he hit the ground with a thud. It hadn't been from vary high but its still made him hiss. As quick as he had let out a hiss the talons where back around him, pressing him to the ground. A sharp black beak pecked at his eyes and precariously plucked his beautifully preened scales. He hissed and spat venom but the eagle kept tight hold of him. Just when the snake was running out of seconds to live, a great roar erupted from behind the eagle. A magnificent golden lion pounced towards the eagle, missing its feathers by mere inches. The eagle soared over to the badger and perched upon its back.

"I could have handled that perfectly fine my self, you blockheaded cat!" The snake hissed at his defender. The lion snarled.

"Vary well, next time I'll let her pluck off your scales one by one." The lion spat, licking the dirt from his claws. The eagle and badger twittered in amusement . The snake scowled and curled around his branch once more.

"I'm staving after that torture." Complained black badger needing the leaves at the bace of the tree.

"I shall go hunt the deer that graze in the clearing." Said the lion as he stretched and than bounded off into the woods. The eagle fluttered up to the branch where the snake was curled and nestled her self in the twigs as the badger kept guard until their friend returned with the food.
