"What was that all about?" Reece says from beside me.
"I have no idea," I reply.
I take a quick glance of his face when my eyes trail down to his hand still on my wrist. He lets go almost immediately.
"Thank you for saving me back there," I blurt out.
"It was no problem. You should carry a warning label around now to avoid any future incidents," he laughs.
"I only slipped once!"
"Once—"
"Okay fine, maybe it was almost more than one but it wasn't my fault..."
"Only you, Keeley. Only you."
We grin at each other when his phone vibrates in his pocket. Snapping out of it, he shakes his head and reads the message displayed on his mobile.
"I have to go," he sighs.
I nod in understanding and stick my hand out again,"See you later?"
Instead of shaking my hand like I expect him to, he takes it to his lips, staring at me while he did so.
"See you."
Fighting the blush on my face, I give him a shaky wave and walk out. I can not believe that happened. He is so sweet and that thought sends shivers down my spine. Sure he saw me embarrass myself but he didn't really make that big of a deal out of it. My hands cup my cheeks as I walk to the car when I see Mom already looking at me with an evil glint in her eyes as she stuffs her face with fries.
I enter the car and try to glared at her,"You."
"Me," she says in the same tone, giving me a toothy grin.
"Mom," I playfully whine, smacking her arm.
"Did you just hit me?"
I stick my tongue out at Mom and she reaches out to the backseat and hands me one of the oversized shirts we usually have just in case I make a mess. She drives over to a place covered with trees and that's when I take my sticky shirt off and change.
"Ma, do you happen to have any—"
"Sweatpants?" she finishes my question for me, holding up a pair.
I thank her and switch the jeans with the sweatpants. I cross my legs and grab a handful of fries.
"So... that guy, huh?" Mom starts.
"Gee, if only you didn't plan on showing him that video," I grumble.
"Then what? You wouldn't have met such a cute guy that you're totally going to marry someday?" she giggles probably already thinking of naming her grandchildren.
I choke on my drink and shake my head at her.
"Only you would be that okay with your daughter dating."
"And only you would be the most blessed daughter to have such an amazing Mom."
"Yeah, maybe you are amazing," I hum.
"What do you mean maybe?" she asks, flabbergasted.
I shrug and turn the music up while she grumbles to herself.
"Hey, Mom?"
"Hm?"
I catch a good look at her as she drives. People usually say we look exactly the same. The same dark hair, blue eyes, and soft smile except Mom aged a bit more with the light wrinkles on the corners of her eyes. Even Lewey and Marcus said we have similar personalities. And I guess in a way, it is true.
