"She ain't my girl.." I hear Todd mumbled, yet again, to a group of men who he must've been talking to, because his Noise shows them, who were pointing at Viola and moving their mouths, as if they were talking.

And I can tell, even from over here, in my tree, the rage in his Noise, the redness of it-

the betrayal and hurt-

that Viola really wasn't his girl.

Cause she was mine. 

It wasn't like it was my fault, though.
She thought that he was a goner, that he was dead, dead, dead-

So I was there for here. I comforted her, and she just decided that-

"Hey, Lee, get down from there! Before you hurt yourself, again."

Speak of the devil.

I gave Viola a soft smile, as I slid down the trunk of the tree.

"Why can't you just let me be?" I said playfully, pushing some of my hair over my bandages yet again. 

I didn't like to walk around with my bandages showing.

But Viola just brushed away the hair again, her soft, warm fingers trailing on against my cheek, then resting her hand on my shoulder.  "Cause If I did, you would've been dead by now.."

I smile, but I try not to look all that happy. Todd's Noise is just so loud, and I can see in his Noise that he's looking at me and Viola, and his Noise just goes on and on,

I loved her, Viola, Viola, said you ain't never going to leave me. 
Viola, she even care bout me no more?

I can't help but feel guilty, and I look away.

Viola sighs gently, and I know that she can see in my Noise what I see in Todd's.

But she ain't saying nothing about it.

But I know, even though she don't have any Noise for me to read, that she also feels bad, because she knows how Todd feels. 

"Viola-" I begin, but then I'm interrupted by a new Noise, one that's coming up right behind me.

Something the matter?

"Nope, everything is fine, sir." I said, turning round to face Ben, and I look into his Noise, and see him looking at me, then Viola, then Todd.

And when he looks at me, his Noise flashed red, because I'm the one who took Viola-

"Now, Ben, it isn't like that," Viola says in a soft voice.

Now he looks at Viola, and I tense up, ready to fight if I gots to-

But then he sighs, and walks over to Todd. 

"Seems like the whole gosh darn world hates us.." I mumble.

I feel her soft lips against mines for a brief moment, making my Noise do a flip flop.

And I can see in Todd's Noise that she smiles.

"Who cares?"
