Chapter 10: Secrets
"COME ON ASHLEY! MAKE ME PROUD!" Mr. Mean, my sports coach bellowed from the finishing line as I sprinted as fast as I could past the other girls on the track team, taking a lead.
I huff through my teeth as I push my legs harder, I am Mr. Mean's favourite girl on the track team, because ... well basically I am the fastest. But this sucks for me because he won't get off my back if I'm having a bad day. Which I am.
I run past the finishing line where Kenzi and Ethan are waiting, looking as bored as I am. I ignore my coaches praise for my good work and for winning and instead pick up the hand towel and wrap it around my neck as I walk over to them.
"Hey guys, sup?" I pant, sitting on the grass beside them.
"Oh nothing, we are just waiting for you to finish practice, so we can fill you in on the new gossip" Ethan said running his fingers through his hair as he watches two guys jog past us.
"Oh the joys" I fake enthusiasm and roll my eyes.
Kenzi sighs as she also stars at the two jogger's arses "Well nothing new really. All the same rumours, apart from now you are a foul mouthed whore with a bad attitude"
Now I sighed and drop my head into my hands groaning "And here I was, thinking that I was making progress, because for once I stuck up myself, instead of hiding behind someone else!"
"To be honest, I think you are, they just don't respect or fear you enough yet. So dude, what did your mum say about the window you broke?"
"YOU BROKE A WINDOW?" Ethan exclaimed, only now having the decency to drag his hungry eyes off the guy's arses.
Kenzi and I, exchanged a look before blanking him out and continuing our convocation.
"Do you know what she did? Nothing. Absolutely fucking nothing" I seethed in anger.
"When I rang her she just said ok and within a few hours some guys came to replace it. She didn't shout or ask why or how it happened just ok and put the phone down. She didn't even ask about Mayce or me, or her four year old daughter is" I continued, scowling at the floor.
"The bitch" Kenzi hissed, making me nod in agreement.
"Err, Hello. What am I missing here? Ashley did you break a window?" Ethan urged, his voice coming out in a whine because he was desperate to find out what we know and he doesn't.
Once again I ignored him "I have finally concluded that she doesn't care anymore, it's official" I stated firmly, shaking my head in annoyance.
"She is a total bitch, dude, don't let her get to you. I mean you haven't let a whole school of bitching teenagers who are bullying you daily, get you down. So don't let her, ok?"
I shoot her a small glare, I really wanted to be reminded of the whole 'everybody bully Ashley' thing right now.
