"Oh, Kamryn~" I hear the familure voice of Kim Namjoon calling my name.
"In the barn!" I shout back, still focusing on my current priority.
His footsteps echo off the concrete as he gets closer. I roll myself out from underneath the car.
Using the back of my hand to wipe off my forehead, then up at him. "Hey Joon."
"Kam? Are you ready to go?"
I frown, "Go wh- OH NO!" I sit up, putting the tools back in the tools box, then run out of the barn and to the house. "How do I even forget about these things!?"
Once I make it to my bathroom, I take the world's quickest shower, dry my hair and brush it out.
Not really caring about my appearance, I throw on a black hoodie and ripped jeans.
Namjoon watches me frantically scramble around my room from the doorway.
He crosses his arms over his chest. "Didn't I tell you to be ready when I came?"
"I know, I know...I just got distracted."
"Mhm, with what?"
I shove the rest of my clothes in a black duffle bag. "Uh...work?"
"Kam, I know for a fact that whatever that thing is you're building isn't work."
"Yes it is!" I sling the duffle bag over my shoulder and take ahold of my suitcase. "It's my personal work." Then the last thing I grab it a black and white ball cap.
"Dadddddddddddd!" I say walking through the house.
My dad's calming voice replys back to me. "I'm at the door, Kami!"
When I see my dad, I hug him. "I'll miss you!"
"I'll miss you, too sweetheart. So will your cars..." Dad kisses my forehead. "I want you to visit when you can."
"I promise I will, I mean, I do have a project to finish..."
Dad chuckles. "Yes, you do. I'll make sure to keep it from rusting..." He zones off, then snaps back into reality, taking my bags from me.
Dad walks me to Namjoon's red convertible -one that I sold him- and put my luggage in the back.
Dad gives Namjoon a good shoulder slap, and shakes his hand. They laugh about something. As Namjoon gets into the driver's seat, I sit in the passengers.
"Kami, look, I..." Dad starts, coming up to the door. "Just be safe, alright? Don't smoke or eat anything that looks potentially drugged. Lay low on alcohol..."
"Dad," He was suppose to drop that subject.
"And, oh! Stay away from bad boys, and if you decide to-"
My eyes go wide. "Let me just stop you there. I'll be fine, really-"
"Just use protection,"
My cheeks turn red and I slam my head against the dashboard dramatically. "Please, stop! I'm nineteen, Dad!"
"One can never be too careful. And that means the same for you, Namjoon." I look at Joon as he gets embarrassed too. "No alcohol, no drugs, no getting into trouble-"
"You don't have to worry about me, James. I'll keep Kam in line."
Dad smiles and Joon's words make his worry fade away. "Of course you will. Watch over my little girl, okay? Don't let her become a wild college kid."
Kid? Well...good thing I'm not a kid. He never said, 'don't let her become a wild young adult'.
"I won't."
I'm laughing so, so hard in my head. College to me has always been about the parties and classes. The adventure.
Finally, Dad lets us go, and we're on our way to the Academy.
Joon and I put on our swag sunglasses, riding with the top down. The fast-moving summer air making my hair go wild.
"Are you sure you're ready for nerd school?"
I laugh. "Nerd school? You do know some of the world's best athletes graduated from the Academy, right?"
"I knew that, but it's mostly run by nerds like me." He shakes his head. "Why haven't we taken over the world yet?"
I shrug. "When that day comes, remember me, alright?"
"Of course... Or I could just let you perish. Especially because that time you were at my house and ate all of the ice cream Mom bought us to share!"
My jaw drops, I cant believe him! "That was four years ago!"
"That was a discouraging evening."
"Yah! I was doing you a favor! Ice cream could potentially make you gain weight...I made a sacrifice for you!"
"Yeah, because that's what you were thinking when you ate the entire tub in one night!"
I rub my stomach. "I felt it the next morning, don't worry."
"Revange at its best."
"Rude!" I punch his shoulder.
Instead of keeping it quiet the rest of the ride, I turn on the radio. Popping in one of the CDs I packed, the first song starts. Namjoon's plain expression slowly changes to a smile.
My Chemical Romace - The End. plays and I sing along with it, then Joon reaches over to the volume knob. Then the music goes up about seven notches.
Before we know it, we're both screaming The Sharpest Lives ten mintues later. Driving down the large empty stretch of the highway where nobody can hear our screaming.
Joon shouts the chorus and I'm doing some version of headbanging, throwing my head to the beat. I record it on my phone. Only a snippet of it. I'll put it on Instagram later for my whopping 42 followers. Be jealous.
In five long hours we finally make it to school ground. Security gates are at the entrance, and we join one two lines of cars.
"Names?" The security guard asks us once we reach the window.
"Kim Namjoon and Kamryn Harris." Joon answers.
After a few seconds, the guard nods, handing Namjoon a peice of paper. "Hand this to the woman in the enrollment building once you get there."
I smile and we both thank the officer.
"There are quite a few people here..." he starts, parking in front of a building that says 'Enrollment Office' on the outside.
Yeah, I noticed that, too. We've never felt comfortable in crowds...
"Hey, look on the bright side." I start, "This is a huge campus, and very selective. I think we'll be alright."
You've got to be one talented person to get into here. Or from a wealthy background. Lucky for us, we've got some talent.
"Yeah...Are you ready?" He asks me, staring at a couple people entering the building.
"Let's do this." I say, unbuckling and getting out.
A/N: Welcome to the end of the first official chapter! The official drama will start by the second, which I'll be working on.
Anyone else love My Chemical Romance...?
