Last night, I had a dream again.
It was another dark night, with me standing on the street. Suddenly, a feather fell down, so I wanted to catch it, because it was so beautiful. White, and soft. But as it was slowly dropping onto the ground, it became bigger and bigger, till it was bigger than me. I wanted to push it away, but it was too heavy... I was crumbling...
I gasp.
Phew. I'm still lying on the floor.
Ouch. My left hand. The bruises still hurt from David's beating stick. And do you want to know why he beat me? Because he found a hair on the floor and blamed me not cleaning it away.
As usual, I took care of David and went to school. And bump into Ian.
Such coincidence.
"Hey Brooke! Walk together?" He says.
"Sure, why not."
"Um, Brooke?"
"Yeah?"
"Um, remember yesterday?"
"...Yeah?"
"You're still hiding something. Tell me."
We get on the bus, luckily finding two empty seats.
"..."
"C'mon, it's fine."
I take a deep breath.
"Okay. So, what do you want to know?"
"Everything. Tell me everything about you."
So I start telling him everything. My mom, my dad, David's nickname, my life now, my education, just everything. Ian changes his expression whenever I say something scary, and he is a good listener indeed.
By the time we arrive, I was about to tell him how I got to this school, but there wasn't enough time, so we continue talking, or I continue telling my story to him. Good thing Shadow has some kind of drums audition in both breaks, or else she'll be real nosy.
"And that's it. That's my life." I say, pretending to be super positive about what will happen next.
And Ian just looks at me, dumb-struck.
"Brooke... I'm sorry."
At this moment I really want to just cry, and let everything out, but there were so many people.
"But don't worry you still have me. I mean, you still have me and Shadow." And he blushes.
"Yes, and I'm glad I still have your two beside me." I lean on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry Brooke."
"You don't have to be sorry." A tear starts dripping down my face, and on Ian's shoulder.
