Chapter 5

As the Doctor left the room, the bronze Dalek came rolling in. I had always wondered how a Dalek moved. There was no sound of wheels turning, or of little feet. I guess they just hoover.

            “Janet Evinsizer!” Screeched the Dalek

“God! Stop it with the screaming! And I don’t like to be called Janet!” I yelled

“Daleks can only call you by your name in the profile, we must fix you.” Said the Dalek as it rolled closer to Jane

“Fix me? What do you mean fix me?”

“We must get you ready for the crowning ceremony!”

“ What crowning ceremony?” I asked as I inched closer to the Dalek

“Yours, to be queen of the Daleks.”

I stepped back quickly. I hadn’t realized this is what they wanted. Why would the Daleks pick me to be the queen!? I’m not even a Dalek!

“Fine, lets go.” I said as I stepped besides the Dalek confidently and looped my arm around it. It didn’t seem to care, I laughed to myself. Did I actually have my arm around a Dalek? I’m badass!

The Dalek and I went down so many hallways and turned so many times that I couldn’t even remember where we came from. There goes part of my plan to run. The dalek pushed me inside of a room and locked the door. I turned around to find that I was not alone. There was a girl sitting in the corner of the room. She looked to be human. She turned towards me. She couldn’t have been older than me. She had dark blonde hair and brown eyes. She was also pretty short.

“Hello” Said the girl nervously as she stepped towards me, “I’m Katrina, The dalek’s human stylist.” Katrina said as she put out her hand.

Katrina was wearing all black and had her hair tied up in a ponytail. I shook her hand cautiously, “Jane” I replied

“ Well Jane, it looks like we’ve got to fix you up for the ceremony.” Said Katrina as she gestured to a black barber shop chair at the end of the room.

I walked to it and sat down. In front of me was a small, glass wall mirror. Katrina came up behind me and spun the chair towards her.

“Lets start with your hair.” Katrina said spinning me back towards the mirror and pumping up my chair. I examined my elbow length, light brown hair. Katrina picked up a pair of scissors from her little table and grabbed a strand of my hair.

“Whoa! What are you doing!” I shouted practically jumping out of the chair.

“ Cutting your hair.” Katrina replied confused.

“Oh no,no,no I’ve worked very hard on this hair and you’re not going to cut it off!” I screamed. When I still lived at home I didn’t have a mum and my dad always wanted a boy. He would make me cut my hair off once a month so I looked like a boy. I hated it but I didn’t have any say in it. Then when I left with the doctor when I was 15 I never cut my hair again.

“Ok.” Said Katrina, “We don’t have to do anything that you don’t want to do. We’ll just style it, ok?”

I nodded my head and looked forwards. Katrina curled my hair and put it up in a bun with some strands hanging down near my face. Next Katrina did my make-up. She used bronzes, golds ,and blacks for my eyes. When I turned towards the mirror and saw my face for the first time I was shocked. I’ve never looked so beautiful in my life. My normal make-up consisted of one colour of eye shadow and a slop of mascara, nothing as good as this. Katrina now picked a long black dress bag off of a rack. She opened it and had me change into it. The dress was long and touched the floor. On the top was just plain reflective bronze fabric. Just under my ribs the dress started to poof out into a sea of bronze tool. Sewed into the tool was little balls like the ones the Daleks wore on the outside of their amour. It was beautiful even though it resembled a Dalek.

“You look beautiful.” Katrina said as I got up out of the chair

“Thanks. Katrina can I ask you something?”  I asked

“Anything.” Katrina replied looking up at me

            “Why are you here?”

Katrina hesitated, “ They took me 3 years back. I still don’t know why. But they found out I have a license in cosmetology on Earth and decided to employ me I guess.”

            “Oh.”

“Come along, Its time to go.” Katrina said as she looped her arm threw mine and started walking. We walked multiple hallways until we reached a balcony.

“Why did you take me here?” I asked. But there was no answer. I looked back over my shoulder to find that Katrina was gone. I started to think of the Doctor. I was hoping that he made it back to the Tardis ok and took anti-radiation drugs.

I walked out onto the balcony to see a view of the whole city. Thousands of  Daleks gathered below doing what sounded like Dalek cheering. I giggled to myself. I guess I could add queen of the Daleks to my resume.

“Now that you have met the Daleks you must sit in your throne!” Screeched a Dalek from behind me. I turned and went in front of it as it pushed me in the right directions. We entered a huge room made of nothing but glass and in one of the corners was a gigantic glass throne. The Dalek pushed me up the steps leading to the throne and I sat. Daleks cheered down below.

“You are now our queen! I am Dalek-Fay! I will be your assistant!” Dalek-Fay screamed

“What did I say about the screaming!” I replied but Dalek-Fay remained silent. I had to perform my plan soon or else it wouldn’t work. I sat in my throne thinking of when the perfect time would come for me to proceed.
