Chapter 7

“Are you tired?” Said the Doctor as he released me from his tight grip.

“No, I suppose not.” I answered.

“Good!” He said as he jumped up to the control deck, “I’ve set  the Tardis on random and I was thinking maybe we could spend a little time together, We hardly saw each other today.”

I was shocked! I couldn’t believe he was willingly taking me out!

“Yah, that sounds awesome, just let me go and change real quick.”

He nodded as I walked back into our room. I slipped into a green tee shirt and a knee length mini skirt. When I came out he was just about to pull the leaver that sent the Tardis shaking.

“Well do you want to go see whats out there?” Asked the Doctor after the shacking had stopped, extending his hand towards me. I hopped down the steps and put my hand in his as we started to jog out the door.

When we step outside we are in an open forest in the pure day light.

“Where are we?” I asked the Doctor

“I don’t know.” Said the Doctor as he started to look around.

“Well didn’t you check the monitors?” I asked

“No, Half the fun of having the Tardis on random is not knowing where you are.”

I rolled my eyes. There was a sudden noise in the distance that cause the Doctor and my heads to shoot up. It was the sound of men talking, and foot steps.

“Get in the bushes!” Whispered the doctor as he grabbed my arm and pulled me into a shrub. They could be anyone, God knew where we were. Those could have been Sontarans looking for war, or worse. As the voices got closer and closer I poked a little hole in the leaves and looked out.

The source of the noise was 2 men walking together cheerfully. One wore a skin suit much like one of a native American, and a pair of moccasins. The other wore a white button up shirt with a grey vest and a pair of trousers accompanied my dress shoes.

Following close behind them was a woman with two thick black braids hanging down by each ear and a baby in a sling on her back. She wore clothes of a native American and had the skin of one. Far behind the 3 of them were about a dozen more men and a couple of wagons.

When the men came close to our bush I lost my balance and feel from my squat onto the floor rustling the leaves and breaking twigs under me. The man in the skin suit quickly drew his gun and pointed it at the bush.

“Who’s there!?”  Shouted the man. The Doctor slowly stood up raising his hands above his head. The man came over ready to confront the Doctor when he looked down and noticed me sitting staring up at him.

“My, my, What have we got here?” He said as he offered me a hand to pull me up. I put my hand in his and lifted myself of the ground, brushing my skirt off.

“Meriwether Lewis, And you are?” He asked me ask he extended his hand towards me. To be honest, I was a little star struck, This is the first historical famous figure I’ve met in 7 years!

“Jane Evinsizer.” I say as I put my hand in his. He takes my hand and puts it to his lips. I don’t even have to look at the Doctor to know that he’s tensing up.

“You are the most beautiful creature I’ve seen in all my days.” Said Mariwether, glazing into my eys.

“Umm thanks, but I have a boyfriend.” I said looking back at the Doctor.

“Why are the most beautiful animals always captured?” He asked diving to the floor grabbing my hand and kissing up my arm. I yanked my arm back. The Doctor came up behind me and laid his hands on my shoulders.

“Anyways, Do you have any clue where we are.” Asked the Doctor

“You’re in the Louisiana Territory.” Said the other man, “How did you get here anyways? Everyone we’ve seen on this journey have been nothin’ but Indians, now we stumble across this well dressed man with his woman? I happen to think this is a little suspisious.
