I'm hopeful that none of you thought I was dead. I've been a bit busy with personal problems and shit like that. Sooooo much fun (note the sarcasm). But yeah, I'm sorry I havent updated within the last couple of months, my family is going through many hardships with my uncle in the military and not able to communicate and as well as my younger sisters death. Do forgive me darlings, I've been a but depressed. I will be updating more frequently though so you dont need to worry about me being on a long ass writer's block again :') ^^^^^Picture of Layla's scar on top ^^^^^

~Laylas pov~
My "father" had beat me once again. Unfortunately, it was nothing new. I was rather used to it by now. It still hurt, but I didnt waste useless tears on the plain anymore.
I went into my bathroom and immediately searched for my "little friend". When I finally found it, I pulled up my sleeve, and gently slid it across my bare skin. I just wanted someone to understand my pain, I just wanted someone to love me the way my mother and father once loved me. I just wanted to be loved, and useful for a change, but I wasnt.
After I had finished my business inside of my bathroom, i decided to go take a walk. I know what you're thinking, walking after you were just beaten? That sounds a bit absurd. Well, it doesn't seem too bad of an idea to me. I mean, I always take walks after he does this. It helps me to clear my mind and put myself at ease.
I decided to go out of my window since I knew my dad would take any given chance to beat me again. As I was walking, I felt a presence behind me, so i swiftly took my pocket knife out of my back pocket and put it to the nape of the predators neck. What I didnt expect was to be brought face-to-face with my old childhood best friend, Katelynn.
Mind you, she knew about me going mute, but her parents dragged her away back to Germany to live there. The only thing processing through my mind was how she found me. I then gave her my most threatening glare and she visibly trembled. I raised an eyebrow, urging her to say what she needed and to go off, but instead of saying anything, she just pulled me into a tight hug.
I did not expect for this to happen but when I flinched, she immediately backed away, and gave me a concerned look. "What happened to you?" As she asked that question, the only thing running through my mind was, dont you dare fucking cry in front of her. But you know what I did? I fucking cried. I just stood there, and let the tears flow down my cheeks.
She looked at me and panicked a bit, we were next to a large body of water that had benches surrounding it, so she pulled me over there by the hand and sat me down, concern clear in her eyes. "Love, what happened to you? Did you bring a notepad to write?"
After what seemed like an eternity, I finally pulled out my notepad and pen from my bag, and began writing. I told her about what had been happening at school, at home, and possibly with Cole. When I had mentioned the Cole thing, she gave me a mischievous grin.
"So, this Cole figure, do you like him? Is he going to be your knight in shining armor and save you from this disastrous nightmare?" I gave a low chuckle and her eyes snapped towards me, my eyes widening as well. I hadn't laughed nor even used my voice since my mother had left. Holy shit. God please dont make me use my voice again. I quickly got up and started running away, because that's all I'm good at. Running away. It's all I've ever done.
I'm powerless against them all.
