Chapter 12.
Last three months they had all woken up to a warning bell that shook all within the great walls.
Atlas and Athesmos have indeed brought the war to the Gates.
Big mistake as Xrysos and all his fine warriors had battled and pushed them out and farther away from the city.
The battle had been one so bloody that they had all fought for days without rest.
Men had died and more been sent until the enemies retreated out of cowardliness. They could not withstand the mighty Gates. Whoever convinced them that they would have indeed misled them all.
Today they were celebrating their victory at conquering their enemies.
Once again the Great Gates has won.
“I bet next time they dared to attack us, they will think twice about it!” Aron yelled, obviously drunk.
Dylan nods his head and throws his hand around Aron’s shoulder. “You are so very right my friend.” He smiled into the other's face.
Xrysos drank with the rest of his men, all cheering loudly and making drunken jokes.
It was a night to reckon with.
***************
A loud crashing sounds echoed around the huge half as Atlas smashed all that she laid hands upon.
This must not be!” she yelled. “They wine and dine in my defeat!” More smashing and more glasses came flying around in all directions. “This is not what you promised me!” Angry pair of eyes met red flaming ones of Gaad.
The man was as angry as she was, although he knew why they did not conquer this time.
Gaad never accepts defeats.
He is a man of great powers.
He commands all.
He is feared by all.
“Desperate times, Sister.” He spoke in his usual calm voice.
“Do something brother. They must not win!” Atlas almost cried out.
“They have not won,” Gaad stood up and walked over to the distresses Queen. He hugged her and gave her a kiss. “The battle has just begun!” the man disappeared from her presence.
“What next?!” Athesmos asked. “I have lost all my men!”
“You do have your favorite gossip.” the Queen mocked. “I believe Gaad is ready to help us now.”
“Did he not help us before?”
“It’s different this time.” Atlas made her way out of the hall. “I suggest you get ready, be a guest in my palace if you may.” Atlas exists the hall with a warning to have it cleaned up.
************
“I did warn you to never trust that man!” Damon whispered to Erin as they crawled their way out of the dark tunnel.
