Wally made it to the cave faster than he thought. Alfred looked startled, but once he saw Nightwing, asked no questions. "In here, quickly!" Alfred led the worried speedster into the cave's med-bay and ordered him to set Nightwing on one of the gurneys.
As Wally set his best friend down, he heard a small groan. Nightwing shifted his head to look at Wally and smiled. "Hey... Walls. Sorry about... the wait." Wally held his hand. "It's fine, Dickie. Alfred's here, he's going to patch you up. Ok? Just stay with me." Nighting gave a dry chuckle. "It's too late... for me. I'm dying... Wally. I can... feel it." Wally shook his head. "Don't talk like that, Dick. You'll make it out of this, you always have." No reply.
"Master Wallace, get the heart monitor on him. I don't want to lose him in the procedure." Alfred's voice snapped Wally out off his trance. He quickly grabbed the wires and placed them on his friend's chest, which was bare. Why? Because Alfred removed the tattered shirt. The heart monitor beeped weakly, signaling Nightwing was close to death.
Alfred started to stitch some of his wounds up. Wally grabbed a bag of blood, knowing Dick would need it. Alfred's main concern was all the broken bones. He knew there were definitely broken ribs, he just didn't know what else was yet. To know that, he needed to stabilize Dick first. There was just so much to do.
He was finishing a stitch when he heard a hated sound. The heart monitor was slowing down. He grabbed the paddles, a worried Wally behind him. "What's going on?" "He's flat lining. The torture was too much. I've got to restart his heart or he's dead." Wally felt the blood drain from his face. There really was a chance Dick would die.
Alfred turned up the electricity and placed the paddles on Dick's chest. He waited for the green light. Dick's chest jolted, but no change. Alfred did it three more times, but no change. "C'mon, Dick. Please." Wally whispered, hoping this shock was all it took. He was wrong. Dick didn't change.
Then, Wally came up with an idea. He was practically made of electricity. He vibrated his hands to make electricity, like with Bane, and replaced the paddles. Wally gave all he had, almost causing him to collapse. Dick coughed before the heart monitor caught Wally's attention. It was speeding back up.
Alfred managed to stabilize Dick. The wounds were wrapped and x-rays were taken. Then, broken bones were put into casts. By the time Alfred was done, Wally counted a broken leg, three cracked and two broken ribs, and severe blood lose. Dick had come out of stuff like this before, but Wally didn't know if he could come out again. He was hoping, one word repeating in his mind: please.
