This is my first fanfiction. Enjoy!
'Why can't I just... stop it?!', I think while staring at my gloves. The gloves that need to hide my powers, keeping them away from everybody. But it's so hard. Anna's been trying to speak to me this morning, but I'm not allowed to talk to her. I only have myself. Sometimes I want to give up, but I don't want to disappoint father. He says I can do it, hide my powers until I can control them. But they're getting stronger everyday, and I just want them to go away, so I can play with Anna again, my dear little sister.
'Look, over there!', I hear Anna shouting. 'Is that an owl?' Looking out my window I see it too. It's almost invisible, blending in with the brown colours of the fjord we're surrounded by. 'Elsa!' Mother's at the door, a worried look on her face. 'Have you seen the owl?' I'm confused. It's just an owl, nothing special. There's a lot of them in Norway. 'Yes, mother.', I reply, 'Why so dramatic about it?' Mother looks at me, sighs, walks to the window and opens it. The owl flies inside, and lands on my bed. It seems to have a letter attached to its claw. 'Mother, why is he holding a letter?', I ask confused. 'Delivering mail like this is something they did long ago.' Mother just takes the letter and starts reading it. Then she looks at me. 'Dear, I have to tell you something'
'When I was eleven, just like you now, I received this letter too. This is a letter from Hogwarts, a school where they teach magic and-'
'Wait, wait, wait, you said MAGIC? Is this some kind of joke? Are there more people out there, people like me?'
'Dear...these are other people. They're called wizards and witches.'
'So I'm a witch?!'
'Please, let me explai-'
I feel anger boil inside. Frustration makes master of me. 'NO!', I scream, and through my shoes I feel ice spreading out on the floor. 'Please, conceal it...', Mother whispers. I try, but my frustration takes over. I burst out in tears, while covering my whole room in ice. Mother calmly whispers: 'I'm a witch too, but I never went to Hogwarts, so my powers are very limited. You can learn great things there, and learn to control your powers.'
I don't know what to feel. 'I don't believe you', I stutter while sobbing. 'I will never be able to control them. They're too strong.' Mother just walks over to my desk, writes something on a piece of paper and gives it to the owl. Then she walks out of the room.
Several days later, the owl is back again. This time mother isn't around, so after a lot of struggling I finally have the letter from this owl. It says:
Dear Queen Idun,
I am happy to inform you that your request about your eldest daughter Elsa has been accepted. I will come by your castle very soon, where I will speak to your child. About her special talent: We will do as much as possible to keep it hidden, while a special teacher will learn her how to control it.
Yours sincerely,
Headmaster Nicholas North
He will...come to our castle? His name sounds familiar. A knock on my door. Anna again. She's strong-willed, that's for sure. 'Elsa?' she says, 'I have chocolate for you! You used to love it, don't you? Please come out!' Silence. 'Elsa? I just... I... I just want to see your face. Or just hear your voice. Please, answer me...' Still silence. I am crying silent. Hopefully I'll learn to control my powers at that Hogwarts, because I can't live like this anymore.
Today the Headmaster will come. I am determined to go to that school. At 11 PM he arrives. He looks weird, because, even though it's summer, he wears a thick cloak and winter boots. It must be freezing where he comes from. Father welcomes him, and we all go to the dinner room. 'So, you are Elsa?', he says to me. 'Yes sir, I am princess Elsa of Arendelle, pleasure to meet you.' I say while taking a bow. 'Leave that etiquette for something else, Elsa. Just call me North.', he says while grinning. 'You have a special power, don't you?' I'm feeling nervous now. 'Y..Yes si-.. North.' I reply. 'Well, we'll be able to help you control it. I promise.' Still smiling he pats me on the back, almost letting me fall over.
