Heroes in a High School

Being heroes catch up with us

Jason's POV

Fun times, we played CTF in Gym.

I burst through the underbrush and ran straight into Jem. He had Dawnbringer unsheethed and was backing away from something. I turned to see a giant. Well it wasn't a giant persay, it was more of a really big cyclops. I reached for my sword and realised it wasn't there.

The cyclops swung his fist towards me. Jem shoved me aside and threw up his arm. There was a sound like a tree being snapped in half. I looked and saw Jem's arm had bent backwards towards his face. There was no look of pain on his face, only anger.

"Hey" The rest of our party crashed through the bushes and faced the cyclops. We looked at eachother and charged into battle.

We were out of practice. I didn't have a weapon, Percy hadn't slept at all last night, Jem had nearly ripped his arm off. With the three of us out of action then we weren't the most effective team, couple that with the few enemies that we had fought in the last few months and we were sure to lose. We were saved by the cyclops exploding.

"Single sniper" Jem shouted "In that tree, high powered, we surrender, please no I'm bust" He attempted to raise his hands but his left was so twisted it looked like he was scratching his ear. He grimaced briefly and I watched his arm bend back into shape. "Please don't kill us" He shouted towards the sniper.

"I'm not going to kill you" Laughed a girls voice "If I was going to kill you you'd be dead already" A rope was thrown down from the tree. A girl slid down the rope, holding a gun across her chest. I heard Leo gasp. The girl flicked her hair over her shoulder. "Hey guys"

"Serena" Leo gasped. "What?"

"Have you never seen a demigod in a school before?" She asked...

Trust? Did I trust her? Magical girl shows up with a high-powered sniper and saves our lives. Of course I don't trust her.

"So what's your parentage?" Percy asked. I noticed a brief look of hesitation cross Serena's face. Then it returned to a look of smug over-confidence that I had seen in Jem before.

"I've never been anywhere to train before" She told us "So I don't know. Obviously I assume that it's Apollo"

"Being good with a ranged weapon doesn't automatically make you a child of Apollo" Jem said "Skill can be trained"

"Well" She flicked her hair. "I've got to go so bye" She stood up an walked away. I slapped Leo on the back of the head.

"Put your eyes back in" I told him "Your girlfriends gone now"

"SHUT IT" He pushed me backwards. I colapsed of my chair and landed in a heap. Piper and Jem got to their feet.

"Don't touch my boyfriend like that" Piper yelled.

"1V1 me" Jem shouted "IRL Valdez. I will wreck you"

"Shut up" Leo screamed "All of you" He attempted to storm awat, crashing into almost every chair and person that crossed his path.

"I've got troubled thoughts" Jem whistled, through his teeth "And a self-esteem to match"

"Shut up" I told him. "With the Fall Out Boy"

Serana's POV

He knew! How did he know? Jason had given me a stare I'd seen before when people knew. I had to get out of there. Of course my locker was right next to Leo's. The boy didn't even speak to me, try to show off his mechanical skill or in any way acknowledge my existence. Strange. For the short period that I had known him he had never once been this quiet. He was always buzzing with a manic energy that I had never seen before in any human. He acted like he was constantly injecting pure caffeine into his nerves.
