A couple weeks had gone by since Spencer and I had met at the party. We texted back and forth, but both of us were too busy to actually hang out as of late. We would make plans, then something would come up and we'd have to cancel or reschedule. Rinse and repeat. I just wanted to see him again. I needed to hear his voice. He was almost like a drug.

I walked down the aisle, mindlessly running my finger across the various spines of books on the shelves as I tried to find one that piqued my interest. I stopped at one; The Shining by Stephen King. I remembered Spencer telling me how much he loved these books. He absolutely gushed over them and how disturbing they were. I smiled slightly and picked it up, studying the cover before opening it. Before I knew it I was several pages in, completely engulfed into this story. Suddenly I was pressed against the bookshelf, arms on either side of me. I gasped and looked up.

Speak of the devil.

"Spencer, what are you–"

He suddenly put a finger to my lips, shushing me.

"You're supposed to be quiet. This is a library, remember?" He laughed softly. I rolled my eyes and moved his hand away, not even trying to hide the smile that had formed on my lips.

"You're an asshole. How did you know I was even here? Spencer Maxwell Charnas, are you a stalker?" I asked softly, raising an eyebrow.

"Damn, I thought I was good at hiding it."

I laughed and pushed him off of me, walking back to one of the lounge chairs. Spencer snatched the book from my hand and smiled.

"The Shining? Someone's been taking mental notes."

I grasped at the book but to no avail, as he held it just out of reach.

"Give that back!" I hissed, jumping up and down. He laughed and lowered it, handing it back to me.

"You're so cute when you're angry." He teased. I glared at him, blushing slightly.

"Shut up." I laughed softly, sitting down.

He smiled, sitting next to me on the small couch as I continued reading. I could tell he was keeping his eyes on me the entire time, watching me read every word and every sentence. Somehow I felt safe. Protected, even. I felt as if something were to happen, he'd be there to stop it. It was almost turning me on. I hid my face with the book to hide the blush slowly forming across my cheeks.

"What's wrong?" He asked softly. I shook my head.

"N-nothing." I just wish you'd do some unspeakable things to me right now, no big deal.

He lowered the book from my face, keeping eye contact with me the whole time. My heart was pounding so fast I thought it might explode right out of my chest.

"You're blushing. Don't lie to me. What's wrong?" He said softly, gently stroking my chin with his thumb.

"I-I said nothing, Spencer." I stammered. The look in his eyes said he was completely enjoying this.

He bit his lip and laughed softly, taking his hand away and checking his phone.

"I better get going. Hopefully I'll be able to see you again." He winked, getting up and walking out. I let out a breath that I didn't realize I was holding in and softy cursed myself. What a fucking tease. He knew exactly what he was doing and he liked doing it.

Asshole.

I set my book down on the coffee table and plopped onto the couch. I had a little bit of time to kill before Ali got home, so I brainlessly flipped through channels on the TV until I finally settled on some cooking show. I took my phone out, seeing that Spencer had texted me just a few moments ago.

Spence
Hey, hope you're enjoying the book! Hopefully it's not too creepy for ya 😜

Me
Nah, it's not too bad. I like creepy shit like this. Besides, nothing can be as creepy as you, right? 😂

Spence
Fair point. Anyways, just checking in! I'm about to head out with the boys, so I'll text you later!

Me
Alright! Don't cause too much trouble.

Spence
No promises 😉

I rolled my eyes and set my phone down and sighed softly. My mind couldn't get that scene from today out of my head. That was the second time he almost kissed me. He knew I wanted him to. At the party, today at the library, he fucking knew. And he left me wanting more both times. I smirked. Maybe I'll just start doing the same to him.

Spence
Hey, if you're not busy tonight did you want to go to dinner or something?

Me
Sure! I'd love to do that :)

Spence
Cool! I'll pick you up around 7 if that's alright?

Me
See you then!

I checked the time. 5:15. I got up and walked to my room, searching for something to wear. Ali knocked softly on my door and walked in.

"Got a hot date or something?"

"Hmm? Oh yeah." I laughed softly and turned to her, holding a black knee-length dress to my body.

"Is this too slutty?"

"Is that what you're going for?" She laughed softly. I shrugged.

"Kind of. But I want to leave some things to the imagination, you know?"

"Put it on and I'll tell you if it's good or not."

Ali turned away while I put the dress on. I looked at myself in the mirror and smoothed it out, adjusting some spots.

"What do you think?"

She turned back around and smiled.

"Definitely."

I finished up my makeup and my hair, just in time to hear the doorbell ring. I turned to Ali and smiled.

"Wish me luck." I winked at her.

"Use protection, and don't do anything I wouldn't do."

I flipped her off and opened the door, seeing Spencer. He looked me up and down for a moment, his jaw practically hitting the floor.

"You ready?" He said, clearing his throat.

"Yeah, lets go." I smiled and walked past him, going to his car. He followed, opening the door for me then getting in.

"Where are we headed?"

"It's a surprise." He winked.

Throughout the night Spencer's eyes never left me. If I got up, he would watch me until I was out of eyesight. When I would sit back down, he would look me up and down as if it were the first time he was seeing me. Every now and then I would gently touch his hand or his arm. I teased him just like he did to me, and I could tell it was working.

As he walked me to my door I smiled to myself then turned to him.

"I had a great time tonight, Spencer."

"Me too." He smiled slightly, leaning his hand against the door frame. I ran a finger down his arm, causing him to bite his lip.

"Let's do it again sometime?" He asked softly.

"I'd love to. Have a good night, Spencer." I said, starting to unlock the door. Suddenly I was pulled back and pressed against the door, and there were only a few inches between me and Spencer. He leaned close to my ear.

"I know what you're trying to do, Anna. You think you're gonna get away with it, but you're not. I'll figure something out, don't worry. But for now, have a good night." He leaned back, winking before walking away.

Jesus fucking Christ. I was practically a puddle on the ground. The way he said that was so dominant.

I needed more.
