Chapter 8: Breakout

January 18th, 2010; Arrow Cave.

Sai, Robin and Kid Flash all walked into the Arrow Cave laughing after a fun-filled night of patrol together.

"So what you're saying is if I become taller than you, you'll go out with me?" Robin cackled.

"I'll consider it." Sai replied jokingly.

"Hate to break it to ya, Rob, but you're probably gonna wait a long time for that to happen." Kid Flash said, mouth filled with french fries.

"No way! I'll be taller in no time. I bet I'll even be taller than you!" Robin pointed a finger at KF.

"In your dreams!"

"Well, what do we have here?" A husky voice called out.

The three sidekicks turned their heads around to find Roy leaning against the wall.

"Hey Speedy!" Robin and Kid Flash say before heading over to him.

"Hey guys, and hey shortie, nice to see you again. What're you doing here?" Roy asked.

"Since you couldn't come in for patrol tonight, they offered to fill in for you." Sai answered, taking off her domino mask and revealing her big brown eyes.

"We should get going now." Robin said. "Come on, KF!"

"Bye Mari! We should do this again sometime!" Kid Flash smiled.

"You bet!" Amara waved as they waved back at her and left.

"You seem to be getting close with them." Roy walked away from the wall and over to Amara.

"Yep, they're great!"

"I see." He looked away.

Amara raised a brow. "Why, you're not jealous, are you?"

Roy's eyes widened and looked back defensively at Amara. "What? No! Of course not. Why would I be?"

"Damn, chill! I was just messing with you."

"Oh." Roy felt his cheeks heating up, looking away.

"So, how was your date?" Amara placed her hands on her hips.

"My what?" He asked looking back at her.

"Your date. Ollie told me you had one and that's why you weren't coming in for patrol."

Roy sighed. "Well, if you must know, it was terrible."

"Aw, Roy.." She placed her hand on his shoulder and squeezed it a bit. "I'm sorry to hear that."

"No, don't worry about it, shortie. It was probably for the best anyways."

"Whatever you say." Amara smiled at him. They just stared at each other awkwardly for a moment before Amara spoke up. "I gotta go now. See you at school!" She waved and ran off.

Roy smiled as he watched her leave.

January 19th, 2010; Star City High School.

The next day at school, Amara was getting her books from her locker. Her friend, Kasey, walked up to her.

"Hey hey hey!" Kasey exclaimed.

"Hey Kasey! How was your weekend?"

"Eh, the usual. Eat, sleep, obsess over Robert Pattinson, repeat. What about you?"

"I w-"

Kasey quickly interrupted Amara. "Shit, Finn alert!"

Finn Russo was one of the most popular guys at Star City High, and most likely it's biggest douchebag. He hits on Amara almost everyday and it makes her sick to her stomach.
