Those endlessly glorious days

Laughter, love, and I swear you could feel a sense of a carefree spirit

Everything was marvelously splendid

~

Once we aged and matured things...changed

That love died down

The laughter, another muffled sound

The carefree spirits warm energy no longer waded around us

~

It wasn't the loss but the drifting that tore me to shreds

The aching, agonizing need for something, anything

Beyond that immense pain came the silence

~

I remember someone saying that some forms of silence are worse than all means of shouting

Being a naïve child I mistook this wisdom for another cliché

Now, now I know what they meant

No words have struck me as dastardly as the silence
