Brian sat in silence, holding his best friends cracked mask. Masky was laying in bed, completely unconscious. His breath was slow and deep, and for once in the others life, he looked calm. Brian gently moved to take the others hand, holding it firmly and feeling the warmth that he still had.
Masky wasn't dead, thankfully, just unconscious. The others nose was broken, and had lost a lot of blood, but he'd live with little external injuries. Brian had stitched his friend for hours to make sure he'd be okay. But now, all they had to do was wait for him to wake up. "Why did you think I was Alex, Tim? Just instinctual fear? I wish I could give you the security enough to never fear for your life like that again... I'm so sorry Tim..."
_____
Slender crouched down, 'looking' at the heavily locked up creature in front of him. Wild red hair with eyes to match, bandages on her shoulder from where Brian had shot her two days prior. She panted, finally having exhausted her energy on trying to escape. Strong wings were folded against her back, and Slender noticed the muscle lines on her arms and bare legs. She was much stronger than he originally thought.
"Why did you attack my proxies?" He asked, his words in his native language of German.
"Simple. I was hungry, I was bright hunters clothes. I attacked." The creature responded, daring to look into where Slenders eyes would be. "I saw the masks, knew i was fucked, but I kept trying."
"Why? Why didn't you just fly away?"
"If you hadn't eaten in the past week, I'd think you wouldn't either."
"Who do you think you are talking to me with such a tone? I am your captor, one wrong move and you could be killed."
"If you wanted me dead, you coulda killed me already. You want me for something, otherwise you wouldn't have chained me up like this."
Slender growled, knowing damn well she was right. He let out a sigh. "Fine. Your right. Dark Angel-"
"Call me Dark."
"Alright, Dark. I am starting a... new world order, of sorts. And i need people like you, with a good sense of battle and having lived through a few wars yourself, you would be a great candidate."
"What do I get out of this?" Dark asked.
"Your life. Shelter. Food, and in knowing your lifestyle, Companionship." Slender stood up to his full height, hearing his back crack at the movements. The basement around him was dark and cold, your stereotypical torture basement. He looked down at the gray skinned girl. "You can join me and life, or go against me and be a statistic. Your choice."
"You really don't give me much of an option, do you? But alright. I'll bite. Just get me out of these fucking chains."
"I'm glad you came to your senses. But. once Masky awakes, I expect you to explain your actions to him. I don't want anymore infighting. Got it?"
"Yes." Dark looked up, and smirked as Slender undid the chains. She stood fully, rolling her uninjured shoulder.
"There are a collection of empty rooms for you, just carve your name in the door and it's yours."
____________
Later that very day, Brian was out on another patrol. It was easy work, so Slender was confident he could do this alone. Brian walked the dirt paths that were forever burned into his mind, it was a cold day in December, and Brian had his hands shoved into his pockets. He sighed, brown eyes looking around the forest diligently. Another violent slip up wasn't what everyone needed, far from it. He came to a clearing, where only a few dead trees were. He continued walking his route, coming across old paths he followed Alex on three years ago. All his memories of those few years were still constantly burning in his mind.
