Roman's P.O.V
"I like this one." I mumbled to myself, twirling a red rose slowly in between my fingertips. "Logan, come look!" I called out to one of my best friends. A boy with short hair, dyed blue, poked his head around the corner.
"Yes Roman- ow!" He was cut off by accidentally poking himself in the eye with his glasses while putting them on, trying to be smooth. I laughed. "Dude, this one looks absolutely perfect." I continued, holding the flower up for the pale, nerdy-looking boy to examine. But he didn't. Instead, he simply rolled his eyes and popped back into the aisle he was in before.
"If you keep walking away from me, you're gonna get lost!" I said, loudly enough for everyone in the small flower shop to hear. I heard an exasperated sigh coming from a few aisles down, and he showed himself again. "How did you get there that fast, microsoft nerd?" He ignored my ridiculous nicknames, like usual.
"To be honest, I don't even know." He paused. "Hey, why are we in here again?" I scoffed. "We're getting flowers for your girlfriend, Logan. His green eyes darted towards a batch of purple and black flowers in the corner. "He- no- she will like those ones!" His face went red with his mistake. I pointed a finger at him.
"I WAS CORRECT!" His pale face drained of colour. "Shut it! Keep your voice down!" I rolled my eyes, picking up the flowers he was pointing at, and the small rose that I liked. I held out the purple and black flowers to Logan. He looked confused. "This isn't rocket science, bud." He grabbed the flowers and simply walked away. Geez, the awkwardness was literally radiating from this guy. I jogged up towards him so we were in the same personal bubble. I could feel him rolling his eyes at me.
Logan and I got on each other's nerves all the time. I would always make fun of the fact that he had glasses, ever since he got them in the third grade- the year we met- and he'd always comment on how messy my dirty blonde hair was.
We were both extremely different, but somehow we maintained our friendship. Like Evan and Jared, like Josh and Tyler, like peanut butter and jelly, even though those last two aren't people. I was one of the popular theatre kids in our school, Logan was the nerd who people only used for cheating on tests. Even though we don't hang out often around school, we're emotionally inseparable. Only problem is, he doesn't like my friends that much. They always make fun of him.
I broke a kid's jaw because of the way they treated him.
We put the flowers on the counter and both reached into our pockets to pay for our own items. I moved my hands around in my pockets and felt nothing but fabric. "Dude, look." Logan's eyes darted over to me, then to my pockets. "What?" he asked. I pulled them inside-out. He sighed.
"You're broke aren't you."
"Yup."
Short, I know. I pulled this straight from Google Docs and I'm not exactly allowed to make these chapters super long for the assignment. I'm trying to make the fact that this is fanfiction as subtle as possible but it's extremely funny to me if I have to be honest.
