Nobody Understands Us /// Slazo X Bearger

Part 12

Slazo was browsing Wish for his video when he came across a being that made his cheeks turn red. 

It was labeled as a simple Halloween decoration, but Slazo saw so much more. Making sure Bearger wasn't in the room, he purchased it. 

He left his room and went to the kitchen, where Bearger was sitting with a plate of untouched fruit salad in front of him. 

"Bearger, you haven't touched your fruit salad!" Slazo put his hands on his hips. "I don't give a care if you don't make money for the household, but please take care of yourself." Slazo fixed himself some leftover pizza from last night. 

Bearger sat silent, and Slazo took offense. "Bearger! Talk to me!" He started crying, and took Bearger's hand, their meals untouched. Slazo took a breath as a tear slid down his cheek, and whispered, "We'll get through this." 

Slazo was trying to establish Bearger as a race so that it would be acceptable for them to get married, which would make Slazo ultimately happen. But he couldn't stop thinking about the creature he ordered. Mr. Spider. He looked away from Bearger, and then back at him. Now that they had calmed down, they started eating. The issue had definitely put a strain on their relationship. 

"Want to go out tonight?" Slazo asked. "I was thinking the duck pond." To any normal person, Bearger would've said nothing. But to a true intellectual like Slazo, he heard the yes in Bearger's eyes. He got changed and they headed out to the park, a few slices of bread in hand. They found a nice bench with a beautiful view of the pond and the sun shining on it

Slazo started ripping up the bread and tossing it in. He put his arm around Bearger as the ducks happy monched up the bread. Suddenly, a kid came running up. 

"Nice stuffed animal!" She complimented. Slazo wanted to say something, but bit his tongue as she was just a child and probably didn't know better. 

"Thank you. His name is Bearger." Slazo told her. She smiled. 

"Where did you buy him?" She asked. Slazo felt himself shudder. He didn't like to think that he bought Bearger, but rather found him. 

"None of your concern!" He snapped. He was about to apologize when the girl ran away, only to come back with her mother. 

"How could you scream at my daughter like that?" She reprimanded Slazo. He apologized and took her complaining for a couple minutes, before she pulled away and they left. Slazo looked back over the lake, hugging onto Bearger. 

A duck had come over and sat on the bench next to them. Slazo sat still, breathless, as the duck was with them. Perhaps this was a sign? 

Suddenly, the duck pecked at Bearger. It was trying to eat him! 

Slazo yanked Bearger away, and the bird flew back over to the pond. It was now Slazo noticed all the weird stares from people. He was hugging Bearger. 

He ran home, sobbing by the time he got to the door. He threw Bearger on the couch, and sat leaning against the door, crying into his hands. 

"Why is this happening?" He cried out, and stood up. "Why am I like this?!" He swiped some books off of the coffee table. 

"You're just a stuffed animal! You aren't alive!" He yelled, crying. "I could just pick you up and throw you in the trash!" He yelled. He picked up Bearger and walked over to the trash can. He held Bearger above it, and willed his fingers to let go. 

But he couldn't do it. He sets Bearger down gently on one of the kitchen chairs and cries. "I'm so sorry, bb. I just..." He scooped Bearger up in his lap. "I'm so sorry." 

He thought he could almost hear Bearger say "I forgive you."
