The More of You
Long majestic hair,
Eyes, lush and blue,
This is my apology poem,
To you.
There are many good traits
Of my dearest friend,
But the best one is the
Way you smile when you laugh
Which often is, as one should be
Because of something terribly
Inappropriate
Or maybe it's the way you
Smirk when you get away with something
That you shouldn't
Because you know more
Than you should
And yet you do it anyway.
But often i find myself drawn
To the way you care about others
In that heart you
Claim is dark and lonely
There lays a spark,
A courage,
A confidence I wish I had
To defend those who can't help themselves
And in that you find
Your own kind of bravery
Which i admire most of all.
My friend, i wish for you to
Know that there is light
In every day
Hope beyond the shadows
Dreams ignited in companionship
which is the lesson that
You taught me in my darkest hours
I hope that shows
That i appreciate more
Than just your exterior beauty
Because after all,
This fleeting life allows for much more
Than arguments over personality.
