"I'm proud of you," Hyunjin told Seungmin, no sense of superiority or mockery in his voice. Seungmin smiled shakily in reply, lips quivering at the thought of returning to the school he had abandoned.
"We can do this, baby. We can do anything together." Hyunjin gently kissed his forehead and interlaced their hands. He was extremely comfortable with his sexuality and who knew. People were too scared to say anything to his face, after all, because of his athleticism and popularity. Despite common belief, high schoolers couldn't give any fewer fucks about who you date, popular or not, because they just want to be done with school.
Seungmin inhaled for five and exhaled slowly, counting the seconds as they ticked by. He was anxious, and he had started to subconsciously snap the hair tie on his wrist. Hyunjin tugged on his hand and pulled him through the doors, but before anyone could see him, Hyunjin quickly dragged him to his first class, having retrieved his schedule prior.
"Go sit at the desk by the back," Hyunjin directed him, pointing to the scratched up science table. "I need to talk to the teacher." Seungmin did as told and placed his book bag under the chair nearest to the door, just in case he needed to make a quick getaway. He never knew what Hyunjin said to the kind science teacher that day, all he knew was that he didn't have to do a cliche introduction to the class, and for that, he was forever grateful.
Homeschooling had always been easy for Seungmin, and public school was no different. AP history and Geometry passed by like a breeze, and just as pleasantly, with Hyunjin convincing each teacher to dismiss the introductions and being rewarded with chaste kisses from Seungmin. One thing homeschooling offered that public school did not, however, was a quiet lunch by yourself in the comfort of your home. When the lunch bell rang, Seungmin nearly cried, but being the dignified being he is, decided he'd rather face the cafeteria than cry in front of his peers.
"Hyunjin, where do we sit?" He mumbled, hiding his body behind the boys larger one.
"With my friends. You're okay, baby." Hyunjin intertwined their hands and pulled Seungmin to stand next to him. "Let them see who has my heart."
"Hyunjin~" Seungmin whined, to which Hyunjin giggled. The two arrived at their table to the surprise of the Changlix couple. Felix smiled brightly at Seungmin, who returned the smile shyly. He felt extremely comfortable around the freckled Australian, but Changbin's glare infuriated him to no end, especially knowing his past with Hyunjin.
"Can't believe he's lasted this long," Changbin scoffed.
"It's not like I stole him from you, you gave him up. Hyunjin's my boyfriend now, and you have Felix, who is absolutely lovely, so shut your fucking mouth and go back to eating your food," Seungmin snapped. Changbin's eyes faltered before falling onto his uneaten sandwich.
"Alrighty, then, anyone else?" Hyunjin asked chirpily. Chan shook his head, Minho and Jisung following suit. Woojin had yet to arrive at the table, and everyone could only assume he was out on his daily chicken run. Hyunjin sat down near a secluded corner of the table, leaving the furthermost spot empty for Seungmin to sit. The rest of the table carried on like Felix shoving carrots up his nose was normal, and Changbin was always a bitchy person.
Seungmin silently thanked the athlete for giving him a seat farthest away from the commotion at the head of the table. But he still couldn't help his anxiety making itself known. The snapping of the hair tie got the attention of even the loudest boys, much to Seungmin's dismay, but Hyunjin was quick to act.
"Why don't you do something else with that?" He asked kindly, treating Seungmin like a scared puppy. Seungmin shrugged, continuing to snap it until a hand wiggled its way through the hair tie.
