Marwallah watched the last of his assassins walk through the portal, and wondered if he was doing the right thing. She couldn't be left unchecked, certainly. And she was a great threat to every one of the immortals, not the least of them, himself. It seemed no prison could hold her, the only recourse was to eliminate her. He knew what War had done to her, and he wondered if it had any consequences he didn't know about. He was snapped out of his trance by the familiar sound of Solomon shouting through a psychic link.
"Marwallah! Wake up you old crotchety bastard! We've got a... situation, to put it mildly." Solomon said.
"That's... vague." Marwallah said, raising his staff and soaring back towards the capital as the air parted ways for him. He landed in the throne room, and saw all of the immortals gathered there, with one exception."Where's Xaath?" Marwallah asked.
"Yeah." Ricky said, leaning back in his chair.
"Ricky?" Franky asked.
"He's, uh..." Ricky pondered the best way to put it as he stroked his silver beard.
"Missing." He said, finally.
"Wait, what?" David asked, sitting forwards.
"I was handling a SwitchBlade manifestation, and Xaath showed up. I used the Odachi to keep casualties and destruction to a minimum, but the 'manifestee' tried to escape the trap, using a move I haven't seen before. And Xaath, he, uh..." Ricky paused and rubbed his head.
"He what?" Amelia asked.
"He tackled him through it." Ricky said.
"He what!?" Marwallah shouted, miniature bolts of lightning firing from the corners of his eyes.
"He just slammed into him, carrying him through." Ricky said.
"Why didn't you stop him?" Sam said.
"Even if I could've seen him coming, do you think I had either the time or the capability to actually stop him?" Ricky said. Sam thought about it for a second, and shrugged.
"At any rate, we need him back." Sven said.
"Well no shit, sherlock." David said.
"How do we go about doing that?" Franky asked. Marwallah opened his mouth to suggest something, but an echoing explosion shook the city and made their ears ring. They charged out, weapons ready to fight, but falling from the sky was no immortal aspect of war, but a normal human male, screaming at the top of his lungs and spiraling out of control. David leapt off the balcony and cast a massive telekenetic construct underneath him, catching him gently as he fell. He pulled him back to the balcony and set him down gently amongst the immortals.Thomas steadied himself and slowly looked up. There was a half-animal, half human creature, a man made of crystal, three normal-looking people, dressed strangely, and three people with dull red eyes, all staring at him. The portal had worked, it seemed. And it had been locked onto Lilac's signature, so he must be where she had gone. He stood straight and brushed his hair back slowly, taking into account everything around him. He took a deep breath and composed himself before speaking.
"Hey there, Thomas C. Hawk, reality-jumping novice and public speaker, at your service." He said, holding his hand out to the nearest person. Which happened to be the very old man with red eyes.
"And I am Marwallah the Blind." Marwallah said, his eyes changing color to a dull white as a small smile spread across his face. Thomas felt slightly more at ease, knowing they spoke english, but he felt there was more to this than he knew. Over the next few hours, he was updated on where he was, and why he was here. And he found out that Lilac was:"What do you mean missing?" He demanded.
"She used a great and terrible magic near the end of the Elemental war, some seven hundred-odd years ago, and we have felt no trace of her presence ever since." Solomon said.
"Fucking great. Well can you at least tell me how to get home?" He asked.
"We can tell you an... approximate guess." Franky said, grinning subtly.
"So there's really no surefire way to get me home, is there?" Thomas asked, feeling his heart drop in his chest.
"We can only make a best guess. We had a portal to another dimension, yes, but it had a powerful energy signature to lock onto to get our soldiers there, and we sent someone equally powerful to lock onto to bring them back." Marwallah explained.
"And my energy isn't enough, is that what you're saying?" Thomas asked.
"We could try it, but there's no guarantee where you'd end up." Sven said.
"Well do it then. I've got to get back. Lock onto whatever you need, take any blood or whatever, and I'll be on my merry way." Thomas said, holding out his hand.
"We can try." Marwallah said, taking his hand.
