A sickly paled baby had been abandoned in the road side left to fend for itself. It was small thing that had been trounced into a basket with a dirty blanket and tossed out of a wagon. It was a miracle in itself that the baby in the basket hadn't landed upside down. No, fate seemed to make sure that the basket landed safely at the entrance of the forest. The sickly thing wailed and wailed and the forest itself seemed to bend an ear to the baby's cries. A wind with a tinge of magic gently rocked the basket ever so slightly so that the child crossed the entrance of the forest.
Just as the moon was waning a wolf the color of mossy dirt had eyed the child. It was no ordinary because an ordinary one wouldn't have taken the basket with the wailing child gently in its mouth and head deeper into the forest.
And that is how Delilah entered the great forest.
