Thanks for reading this story, I hope you still like it. here's the next chapter.
"God I hate this." Maddie muttered as she walked up to the door in the tower. Luke had gone to the police station to give his side of the story, leaving the women to handle the turmoil. She knew that he wasn't dealing with it so good. Yes Maddie and Emma had dealt with it as doctor.
But still a newborn had passed away and they had been the one's to treat him the most. Having fought to bring him back. Sighing she opened the door and walked in to see all the lifeguards from yesterday sitting at and around the table. Even those who'd been on duty today were already present.
"I'm sorry for waking you last night with my text." she apologised to Hoppo who shrugged it off. Maddie hadn't done anything and she'd never been disrespectful so he'd figured when she asked him it would have been for a reason. she was already accepted in this team and all of them were happy with her work. "What's going in?" Kerrbox asked, putting his cup of coffee aside as he looked at the three woman.
"The police came to my place last night. they will be here in a bit as well." She started explained and she could see that they were starting to get the same feeling she'd had when he cops had shown up. "The newborn passed away last night, they'll be here to get each of our statements, we gave ours already this morning." she explained to them, not wanting to beat around the bush. there was no point in it, it wouldn't soften the blow or anything.
"They want to get each of your statements, we already gave ours last night." Maddie explained to them as she turned to look at Emma at her side who nodded her head.
Autumn quickly took over from Maddie, Hoppo all to happy that they had someone like her right now. They could deal with a lot of things, but a deceased newborn wasn't something they handled and most guys were still shocked by it, especially when they learned he'd died. Maddie went to sat herself down beside Terry, seeing that he had an incredibly tough time of it.
She wasn't Autumn, she knew a lot better of how to handle emotional turmoil. Maddie didn't, she solved problems with the body, Autumn took care of the mind.
By noon they'd all given their statements and Maddie's friends were gratefully let off the hook for interfering and helping with trying to get the newborn back for one. Autumn stayed in the tower that day, giving each one of them a chance to come and talk to her if they felt the need for it. which she noticed some of the guys doing and she was happy that her friend could hep them.
Emma had gone to make sure that Luke was doing okay as well as Maddie had to continue working. She was probably the one who handled it the best in her own way. Although it didn't bring back memories she'd rather have stayed buried. But what could she do? She hadn't handled those memories and she didn't plan to either. And there was the fact that she didn't like that a newborn had died. But she had been confronted enough by the death of children to give it some type of place.
"How are you doing?" she asked walking up to Terry as she returned from taking care of an injury. She'd been his sort of shadow today, wanting to make sure that he was alright. She didn't ask it all the time, in fact it was the first time she asked him since getting started on shift. But right now she could see a shadow in his face and wanted to distract him a little.
"It reminded me of him." He pointed out and Maddie could only nod her head understanding at that. "I'm sure that if you want to talk about it, about what happened yesterday or back then that Autumn would be willing to listen." seh told him, she hated that she wasn't good with this emotional stuff, she pushed it away, not the right way of handling everything. But it was the only way she knew how to handle emotional things such as that. But she could be doing the next best thing which was send him to Autumn who could help him.
