The Age Of The Machine

Chapter Two- Well, you're a little late

Palmera, Velonian Capitol, 2:56 PM

Daniel scaled the shop, hoping to find a weak spot in the big wooden armour around it, trying to sneak in past the blocked off Windows and doors. He found the small back entrance crowded by a few small Stingers that were sprawling around outside. Stingers were knew for killing people in crowds of them. Daniel didn't want that to happen, so, very easily, he picked them off. The nasty little buggers weren't much of a problem. He turned to the door and entered the shop, he began scanning the shelves until he was suddenly kicked down to the floor.

A man, glasses perched on his head, was standing behind him, he had what looked like and Ithica pointed at his head. "Bandit! Bandit! You killed Ben!" He yelled as he pointed one hand to the bloody rucksack that Ben used to wear. "I swear I didn't, it was that beast, that monster from hell!" He replied "You mean the machine?" He then said "They are machines? But how?"

The man frowned "You really don't know, where you not alive when the Overseer went bloody mad or something?" He asked. "The Overseer?"

He sighed

"Matt, take him to the office."

Another man appeared and knocked the other out the way "Sorry about my friend here, my name is Matt, and this is Liam, what's your name?" He asked as if Daniel was a new kid in a school.

"Erm...Daniel, one of those beasts killed Ben, he said you were here" he asked, shaking in fear

"Yes, we didn't see that"

"You took your time, didn't you?" He asked

He frowned, disappointed with himself "I think we should show you the video" he said as Liam grabbed hold of him.

They arrived at a small office, it had a small window that had been completely boarded, hiding themselves from the machines outside. "Ok, sit down, you need to know why we are like this"

"I already know, they are mutants, right?" He said

"Almost" Liam said from behind him as they put on a small tape. It began with a classic black and white video and someone was spitting out words as the video rolled by.

"We must praise this new technology!" It began "Scientists have waited forever for this, we have finally did it, a milestone in history! The future is now, and now is The Age Of The Machine!" Then the video suddenly began showing a video of the Overseer on his activation day, he looked a little friendly, even with no mouth and enormous claws connected to an enormous crane.

"I still don't understand" Liam cutter in "They use black and white crap in 2015, its not Fallout 3 people, get a grip" they ignored him and watched on.

The video began showing pictures of newspapers saying "We go to war!" And it showed a real photo of soldiers and Alpha Mechs marching, then a horrible photo of them fighting against other humans together "Victory, this brings peace and prosperity to our nation!" The tape ended with an Alpha turning it's large metal head to the screen.

"Fancy ending" Matt suddenly broke the silence "But there's more"

He put on another tape, it had colour, but it was very dull.

It started out with pictures of another newspaper "Machines turn against us?" Was the headline. "Our speed of technology has only led us quickly to our doom!" The person said in a depressed voice "The grand Overseer has turned against our will, all thanks to the Erazians! And now they have been destroyed by their own corruption" a photo of Machines firing upon civilians and soldiers suddenly showed, followed by another picture. The second image wasn't a photo, but looked for like a painting. It showed a Hunter, Blood waving through the trail behind it, it was killing scared civilians and dead bodies of children tread behind it "This painting by an anonymous artist represents the true horror of our ways, hide yourselves" the video ended

"That was it!" Daniel yelled "That was what killed Ben!"

"You mean a Hunter?" Matt asked

"Yeah, a Hunter, So, they're robots, made by us and other nations corrupted it and only got destroyed themselves" Daniel explained

"Some people believe it's the Illuminati," Liam was leaning against a wall

"Illuminati? Oh yeah, those guys" Daniel muttered

"Don't think that? People went crazy into believing it, just look what we found when we first got here" Liam opened a draw to the office's desk and got out an old note, what looked like written in blood it said

"THIS IS ALL A TEST CONDUCTED BY THE ILLUMINATI, DON'T TURN YOURSELF IN, IF YOU BELEIVE, IF YOU WAIT, WE CAN WIN IF WE TEAM UP"

"Honestly, how stupid is it?" Matt said. "But, on to more serious things, how did you get in?" He asked

"I took the wooden planks off the back door"

"You bastard!" Liam yelled but was silenced

"Shut up, get your weapons, do you have a gun, Daniel?" Matt asked.

"Yeah, I have Ben's Colt"

"You little..." Liam began, until he heard a banging outside.

They silently peeked out the door to see some troopers and, to their horror, the same Hunter that killed Ben, a few bullet marks in it's head.

The troopers were basically grunts, they had red eyes and wore black helmets with white gas mask-like heads. They had black and white armour and used X-90 Assualt Rifles.

"Ok, prepare to fight, that Hunter may be a problem" Matt began as they stepped out the office and crept into a small room. Daniel was about to point out a plan when a trooper suddenly came through the door, X-90 in hand.

Authors Note: Just to let you know, The troopers look like the picture for the story, this might be a cliffhanger,or I will update it, who knows...
