Why did Lela have to ask the teacher that? I was perfectly okay with working by myself. I mean, I do it all the time since I don't really have classes with my best friend Alex.

Right now, I'm watching Lela look at Tanner like he is her whole world. It breaks my heart because I know that Lela and I will never happen. Maybe it's time to move on. That would be the smartest thing to do.

I sigh and get back to my part of the project which is to lookup our scientist's name and write there background down. I totally could have gotten this done by myself. Stupid, beautiful Lela.

The bell rings, and I rush to get my stuff packed up. I basically sprint through the door and head towards Alex's classroom. He will never believe that I am part of Lela's group. It'll be funny to watch his face.

Alex walks out of his class then we start heading to our second class. Mine is symphonic band while his is Spanish 2.

" You are never gonna believe what happened to me last period Alex.!"

He looks at me strangely then says, " what happened to you that it would be so unbelievable?"

I laugh and state, " I am now in a group with Lela. Obviously, her boyfriend is also in our group, but that doesn't matter."

He squeals and starts to jump around. My face starts to turn red because of the embarrassment I feel for walking next to him. He is always like this, and I love him so it's cool.

" Okay. No need to get that excited. Nothing will happen. Anyway, I'll see you at lunch yeah?"

He nods his head then heads to his class. I walk into the band room and see all my band friends. They see me and smile then come and say hi. We all have to sit down since our awesome band director came in.

Class goes by kinda fast, and the next thing I know is that it's lunch time. I wait outside of the cafeteria until I see Alex then we both walk in. We sit at our usual table. Usually our friend Lexi would be sitting with us, but she is sick today.

" Look who it is Mack!"

I turn my head so fast that I think I got whiplash. There she is. The most beautiful girl in this world just a few tables away sitting on her boyfriend's lap. I shake my head and turn around.

" Alex, I think it might be time for me to move on. It would never happen because she loves her boyfriend."

" Yeah, but you love her, don't you?"

" Well yeah but that doesn't really mean anything. Besides, I don't wanna hurt anymore when I see them together."

"Ok....." He trails off and I don't understand why.

Suddenly, I feel someone tap my shoulder. I turn and see Lela. My face starts to burn, and I feel embarrassed.

" Y-yes Lela? Did you need something?"

" Yeah. Would you like to come to my house after school? I have a few questions about our project, and my boyfriend said he couldn't make it."

" Yeah. Sure."

" Okay, see you around 7?"

I nod my head and she smiles then walks back to her table.
