Vince was sulking big time, looking at his computer screen with the fierce glare of a wronged five-year-old. He glanced over every now and then, aware of my pointedly raised eyebrows and the fact that no, I wasn't going to look anywhere else unless he told me what was going on. He was about to crack, I knew it.

Groaning, Vince leaned back in his chair. "Can you stop staring at me like that?"

"Like what?" I asked innocently, then sighed, waving my hand dismissively. His brain was already frying without me playing games with him, so I decided to be lenient. "So, how did your talk with Moondrop go?"

His arms tensed, stretching his shirt at his perfect biceps and telling me enough already. Not that I expected anything else. After all, neither of these two was any good at talking.

"He's a fucking tease," Vince muttered, and I snorted in response, then quickly hid my grin behind a hand. He was too cute, sulking like this. His eyes narrowed. "What? It's not funny."

I shrugged. "Well, and how exactly has Moondrop been teasing you?"

To my surprise, Vince blanked momentarily, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape as if he had trouble breathing. Indeed, his chest wasn't moving until he took a deep breath that he held captive for just as long. Finally, he released it with a sigh.

Then, nothing.

"Vince?" I asked.

He was behaving suspiciously. Usually, he would've barked out defensive insults or complained about his innocence. Now, he was utterly silent, gnawing at his bottom lip while staring ahead as if he was not just thinking, but deep in thought.

"Vince, Baby, you're worrying me." I rose from my desk to walk over to his, and the room was silent except for the clicking of my heels on the parquet floor. Vince looked anywhere but in my direction. Apparently, he needed a firm reminder of the fact sulking wasn't going to get him anywhere.

Huffing, I put my hands onto my hips. "Talk."

His eyes narrowed, and I followed suit with twice the intensity. "Vince."

He crossed his arms defensively.

"Okay, whatever. I'm taking Moondrop out over the weekend anyway, and the-"

"What?" He was on his feet within an instance, and I was glad that I knew him so well or else, I would've been intimated by his set jaw and balled fists.

"I'm taking Moondrop out over the weekend. My cousin has this big estate in the mountains, woods and rivers and everything, and I think it will do both of you good to spend some time away from each other," I told him as tenderly as I could, given that I was pissed off by his incapability to deal with high levels of testosterone.

"And why would you think that?"

I gestured at the entirety of his body.

Vince mimicked the gesture with an irritated wave of his hand. "What's that supposed to me."

"That means that you obviously can't deal with whatever is going on between you two. So take the weekend to think on it, and keep your cock in your pants for a change, might actually have a positive effect on your brain."

His fists trembled as he curled them tighter, and while I knew he'd never hit me, he certainly looked ready to hit something. Then suddenly, he turned around with a groan, tension easing out of his muscles as he brushed his hair back and walked off towards the window front. I almost felt sorry for him, but his character development was long overdue.

When he simply kept staring outside, still refusing to talk about what had happened, I slowly walked over to him, then put my hand on his shoulder. I squeezed softly, and he dropped his chin to his chest with a sigh.

"Tell me please?"

He glanced my way, and I tried to look as trustworthy and caring as I was even though Vince usually needed a bit more attitude. Grimacing, he looked towards the sky once more, then gulped.

I waited as patiently as I could.

Finally, Vince brushed my hand off with a groan and a roll of his eyes. "He said I'm not worth loving."

Ouch.

I mean, I got where Moondrop was coming from, but that was one well-aimed punch at my baby's confidence.

Vince shook his head, brows furrowed. "I get that he didn't want me to sleep with Taz, or Joe, but it's just fucking sex. Like, how can you love someone but then say they're not worth it? I mean, he loves me, then he should fucking want to be with me."

For once, I decided against pushing it, though I had a profound respect for Moondrop.

"Nothing to say?" Vince huffed accusingly despite the insecurity in his eyes.

I smiled apologetically and quietly offered, "Sounds like it sucks?"

Vince snorted but composed himself quickly. Still, the hint of a smile remained on his lips. "It does."

"So, what do you want to do?"

"No idea," he sighed.

"Well, do you want to be with him? I mean, without the sleeping around?"

"No way! He's a pe-"

I held up my hand and was glad that he shut up. There was a lot I was willing to listen to, but not that. "Vince, he might be called a pet, but let's be honest, real pets don't talk, and you also shouldn't be sleeping with them, so I think we can agree that Moondrop is more human than anything else."

"But -"

I pushed my hand further towards his face, causing Vince to take a deep breath that made his nostrils flare. I wasn't fazed. "Vince, Baby, it doesn't matter. What you see him as, if you think he's entitled to have you all for himself, whatever. The question remains what you want. Just don't blame Moondrop for not wanting the same."

Vince's frown and the silence following my words told me that he'd understood, though it remained to be found out whether he'd understood correctly. He searched for my gaze, gnawing at his bottom lip. "I don't want you to take him out over the weekend."

Groaning, I rolled my eyes at him. "That's not the point."

"But I don't know, okay?" he snapped. "What if I screw this up?"

"You've screwed up already, twice. And he's coping pretty well with that, if you ask me," I deadpanned. This conversation was taxing but at least, Vince was finally getting somewhere.

"Yeah right, and now he's saying I'm not worth it."

"Vince," I said gravely and put my hands onto his shoulders. "Then proof him that you are."
