Melody's POV

Flashback

"Melody! Help!" I heard my twin scream through our twin connection. I used what little magic I had to switch places with her, whatever was happening to her was better suited for me; I was a monster anyway, I could handle it. I looked around my surroundings, I seemed to be in a dank metal room with little girls bodies littering the floor. But the girls and I weren't the only ones in the room. There was a man with us, covered in blood. He noticed that I wasn't my sister, but he didn't seem to mind; in fact, he licked his lips as a wolf does before the hunt. The look in his eyes scared me, but I would still rather endure whatever he had planned in Harmony's place. He approached me and forced me on a metal bed, pushing my skirt up. He started touching me in places my mom told me only my mate should touch me. I fought against him, but he was too strong. And then he started pulling down his pants and underwear. One thought crossed my mind. This could have been Harmony. Armed with that thought, and the fury of a thousand suns, I screamed, summoning flames from my soul and dispersing them. I broke free of my chains and hid in a corner, where I could regroup before teleporting away.

"You're quite the little firecracker, aren't you?" He chuckled, his voice scratchy. I took a deep breath, feeling my magic regenerate.

"Let me be perfectly clear, Firecracker, you're going to keep coming back here or I'll have the other little girl and do to her what the others endured." I glared at him, and he grabbed me. He kept trying to touch me, but I kept fighting, all the while he kept threatening Harmony. Finally, I had enough magic to teleport away, but it was too late. I knew I'd have to go back, he'd kill Harmony if I didn't.

I shot up and out of my flashback, gasping for air. Once I could breathe again I looked around. I didn't recognize anything. Anything except the man sitting next to me.

"Mark?"

"Hey, are you ok?" He asked, his voice dripping with honey and concern.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. Um, where am I?"

"My house and you're not fine. Wanna tell me what happened?"

"I uh, was caught off guard. That's all."

"Melody, you were showing signs of PTSD. Anything you say here will stay here. It's ok."

"Well, I mean... I don't really like talking about it."

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. But I'm here if you need someone to listen to you."

"Well, uhh... I suppose you do deserve an explanation after you saw one of my attacks. And you brought me somewhere safe so..."

"Melody, it's entirely up to you."

"What you saw, me with a white film over my eyes? You're right it is a sign of PTSD, a flashback. You see, when I was four I was... molested... so that my twin wouldn't be. So now any touches I'm not expecting freak me out, and anything sexual sends me to that time," I said, my voice low, tears threatening to spill over.

"Were you ever..?"

"He tried, but no I was never raped. But damn did he try."

"Melody... I'm so sorry. Come'ere," He said, opening his arms, offering a hug. Against every cell in my body telling me not to, I fell into his arms noticing how safe I felt.

"No one is ever going to hurt you again," He growled.

"You're not human are you?" I asked.

"What?" He seemed confused.

"You're a demon. So is Jack. I can smell it on you."

"Yeah... yeah, we are." He sounded defeated like he just lost something important to him.
