Chapter 15

"Y-y-you love me?"

Keith nodded.

"So let me get this straight. You lied to me. Ran away from me. Avoided me AND made up a fake girlfriend."

Keith nodded.

"I-I-."

"I know. I'm sorry. I'll walk away from your life if you want me too. You'll never have to see me again."

"I don't know if I want that."

Things went quiet.

"Can you buy me breakfast?"

"Huh?"

"Breakfast. I'm hungry."

"What happened to walking out of my life forever?"

"Well Im sure you could get me some breakfast first."

Lance sighed.

"You know Keith. Your a real jackass sometimes."

"Is that a no?"

"Just order something. I'll pay for it later."

"Thanks."

The waitress came over and Keith ordered some pancakes and a cup of coffee.

"You know I only have ten dollars."

"Hmmm. Guess I'll have to dine and dash."

"Don't you fucking dare."

"I'm kidding. I have a bit of extra cash. I'm sure we'll be fine."

"You know it's funny how easily you can go back to being Keith."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Just going back to being so careless and emotionless."

"What else do you want from me Lance? I already apologized like twenty times."

"What now your mad at me?"

"Yes. I'm tired it. I don't know if you've realized this yet Lance but I've never had anyone to care about or someone to care about me. It's always been me, just me. You were the only person I gave a shit about and I managed to screw that up. I'm not perfect. I ruined my friendship with Shiro. Then it was with the rest of the paladins. Then it was with you. I just can't always be the bad guy. I need to know I wasn't the only one who screwed this up."

Lances POV
Does he really think it's screwed up?

"I'm sorry. It wasn't just you."

"You don't mean that."

"No I mean it. I shouldn't of gotten so drunk. Did I ever tell you why I did that?"

"No."

"I was heartbroken. I wanted you Keith. Ive always have but I was afraid to tell you. By the time I was ready to confess everything you were already gone. I couldn't get you back. You seemed so far away even though you were right in front of me."

There was silence.

"Why is it so difficult?"

"What do you mean."

"I mean it shouldn't be so hard. If we both wanted to be with each other wouldn't of it already happen by now? Maybe it was a mistake."

"Don't say that. Please don't say that."

"I mean think about it Lance. This is much more complicated then it should be."

"What is it? Don't you care about me anymore or what?"

"Don't come at me with that shit. You know I do. I've always cared about you. You mean the world to me."

"Then why are you giving up on this so easily?"

"Easy? Do you know the shit I went through. Almost seeing you die. Hurting you. I just can't always be the reason your in pain."

"But your not."

Lance reached for Keith's arms and pulled it toward him. He held his hand in his palm.

"Keith I've never been happier than when I'm with you. Sure it's been hell but we're here now. Isn't that enough for yo-."

Keith pulled him in for a kiss before he could finish his sentence.

Lance kissed him back. His lips were soft and so sweet. It felt like heaven. It had been years since both wanted this.

"I love you,"

"Love you too lover boy"

Lance chuckled.

"You know that we still need to find my car if we want to go anywhere."

"Yeah yeah we'll find it."

"That's gay." Said someone else.

Lance and Keith jumped. They turned to see Veronica standing right in front of them.

"VERONICA WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE?"

"You never came back. Mom sent me out to look for you. From what I see you didn't need any help." She said winking at them.

"Ohhhhhhh."

"Did you find my car?"

"You mean the blue crappy car stranded of the side of the highway. Yeah I found it. You left the keys in you dumbass. I'm surprised they didn't steal it."

"Can you take me to it?"

"Yeah sure. If you want I'll drop you off and leave your boyfriend at the castle."

Lance blushed by the mention of Keith as his "boyfriend", it was sweet and had a nice ring to it.

"Actually it's fine. If Keith's okay with it I'd like it if he spent the weekend with us."

"Wait seriously?"

"Of course. Didn't I say my family would always be your family."

Keith smiled.

Veronica drove them back to Lances car. Lance got in and drove back to his parents house, Keith by his side.

It was now two in the morning but they didn't care. It was still raining which annoyed Lance but Keith liked it.

A new song played on the radio now. A song by my Chemical Romance that made Keith jump up from excitement.

He turned it up very loud but Lance didn't mind. He loved seeing Keith so happy.

"I WILL NOT KISS YOU BECAUSE THE HARDEST PART OF THIS IS LEAVING YOU."

"Your really into that huh?"

"Well yeah it's a masterpiece."

Lance laughed.

"Well I'm glad your a 2000s emo. It's classier that way."

Keith laughed.

"I mean I guess. Since when are you interested in my Chemical Romance?"

"I mean you are my boyfriend now. I want to be interested in things you are."

"That's really sweet Lance."

Lance smiled.

He was so happy to have Keith by his side even with his edgy music playing. They drove the rest way home.
