It was starting to properly dawn on Jiwon that he was late. Very late. Immensely late. Irrevocably late.
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
In his hands, he had three things. A poem Junhoe had given him all those years ago in a worn-down elevator; a middle-size dictionary that he had just bought; and a really pretty gilded pen that he had borrowed from Hanbin. All he needed was one, just one more thing, but now as he stood in front of the store he was planning to get it from, the colour was draining from his face. Ten minutes now he had been staring at it, willing fate to be kinder to him, even for just a minute.
It was closed.
"You had weeks to do this," Jiwon growled at himself, kicking the brick of the shop before yelping, clutching his foot as he hopped away for a moment. "Fuck, this is stupid. I need to go- what's with your stupid superstition of getting everything on the day?! Idiot. Idiot."
He could imagine Junhoe's trying-not-to-be-worried face, his teeth pulling at his lips nervously as he checked his watch and made other people check their watches and phones to see if his watch was running at the right time and then he'd stress out, thinking that something had happened but then he'd think, 'he doesn't want to marry me, he's gone', and the thought of that made Jiwon want to cry so bad. He hadn't loved Junhoe for years just to make him think that he wasn't worth it when Jiwon adored him, Junhoe was his world – Jiwon just always, always had a talent for messing up.
"Donghyuk," Jiwon said firmly, phone to his ear as he bundled himself back into his car, trying to replace his desolation with determination. He wasn't surprised at all about the screaming that instantly hit his ear.
"HYUNG, EVERYTHING IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY EXCEPT FOR YOU, ONE OF THE GROOMS-"
"I know-"
"JUNHOE THINKS YOU'RE GONNA LEAVE HIM AT THE FUCKING ALTAR-"
"AND WHY ARE YOU CALLING DONG INSTEAD OF ME? WHO'S YOUR BEST MAN NOW?!" another yelly voice came into the picture and Jiwon rolled his eyes.
"Hanbin, tell the stylists to leave, I'll be keeping them waiting too long. Dong, I need you to tell Junhoe that I'm coming and I promise I still love him, I'm just trying to get something. Please."
"Who are you talking to?" Jiwon heard a withdrawn voice saying in the distance and his heart fluttered before settling heavily in his chest, weighed down by sadness.
"I'll see you, just do it," Jiwon said to Donghyuk before hanging up. He sighed, reaching out to rest his hand on the steering wheel. Here he was, three hours from home and five hours from the venue. Jiwon believed in fate but he couldn't dare see this as a sign from the universe, not when he knew just how much he wanted to marry Junhoe. He didn't want to ruin this but he already had.

"Do you think we'll ever let this apartment go?" Junhoe asked, looking around the room as he lay on the couch, fanning himself. Jiwon crouched down on the floor next to him, taking hold of his hand to stop it from moving.
