The Devil Within || Darko x Reader

-Prologue-

The peaceful island of Jorvik. Joy, flower fields, beaches, sunshine. At least that's what it was supposed to be.

3 years ago, a horrible fight between Light and Darkness took place in Jorvik. The infamous Generals of Garnok and Dark Riders fought against the legendary Soul Riders and Druids in a merciless battle. The fight went on for days, until one faithful moment when the darkness overpowered the light.

In the end of the battle a dark spell got cast all over Jorvik, making every mortal living being lose their memories. But this spell had an unkown side effect. Human beings with strong magical powers, like the Soul Riders and the group they work for, didn't lose their memories. Not only that, they also became immortal.

The so called 'Keepers of Aideen' rescued every of the few survivors of the violent battle they found and created an underground society, recruiting every single magical being they could find. This was really hard since the only way of finding out if someone was possessing magical powers was destroyed.

While the Keepers of Aideen, also known as the Druids, kept struggling to find new people to fight alongside with them, one of the Generals made up devilish plans to overthrow his master, Mr. Sands, in order to have the sole power over the whole island.

Darko is without doubt the most dangerous and most treacherous one of the Generals. He's a backstabber.

One year after they won the fight against The Keepers of Aideen, Darko made his plan come true. He defeated Mr. Sands and banished him to an unkown dimension, taking full power over Jorvik. Eversince the announcement of Mr. Sands 'death', things kept getting worse for the population that couldn't be saved by the Druids.

They got payed lower, worked harder and needed to pay high taxes. Darko had gained complete control over the people and horses on Jorvik by strucking pure bone-chilling fear into them. Who disobeys gets a horrible punishment, or even killed.

The society beneath the suffering inhabitans of Jorvik is getting bigger and better, yet there are no signs of their fallen heros nor the ones who once led them.

Since their defeat the Soul Riders Alex, Anne, Linda and Lisa went missing, just like the leaders Elizabeth and Fripp. There are several rumors that they are disguised and defend the underground from the bad, others say they didn't wanted to admit their defeat and escaped from the island of Jorvik. Some even told that they would be dead, because no one knew that they became invincible.

But where did the rumors came from when everyone lost their memories? Simple and predictable answer. The Druids. They told the Soul Rider's stories to keep them alive and with hope to eventually find them.

The prominency of the underground society grew and the people living the miserable life Darko doomed them to live gave them the nickname "Rebellion".

Soon enough, the existence of the rebellion got known to Darko. He was more than unpleased with that knownledge and did everything to find at least one person to give him the information he needed in order to destroy them.

Darko is already busy with finding a way to spot the Soul Riders and how to make them mortal again, so the last thing he needs is people rebelling against him.

Neverless, the situation mere feet beneath the ground was as hopeless as above. Without Fripp and Elizabeth it's impossible to teach the people how to use ancient magic properly and more important safely.

So both the Generals, also known as DarkCore, and the Rebellion are hopeless and have a lot of pressure on their shoulders.

That was, until a small spark of hope lit up the gloomy future of the Rebellion.

It was a 18-year old girl named [Y/N]. Stubborn, brave, caring, protective and fairly short tempered, which made some situations quite difficult.

She and her horse [H/N] presumably possess powers just as strong as the Soul Rider's ones, maybe even stronger.

Will she be the one to save Jorvik? Or will she be the reason for Jorvik's doom because she falls for the wrong person?
