"Eren?"

"Mhm?"

"Help me prepare dinner tonight, I don't need you sitting there like a vegetable."

"I'm thinking Mikasa don't be so bland, so what do you need help with?"

"Chop these. Tonight we'll be having vegetable soup with buttered bread." She held out a knife and a basket of vegetables.

I stood up from the table and grabbed the items from her hands, smiling as I set them down and retrieved the cutting board. "You need to go by the market. I don't want to become a vegetarian now."

"I will later tomorrow evening before I start my daily routine to make dinner. What would you like for tomorrow's supper?"

"Meat is expensive these days, I don't think you would have enough. Something cheap, yet something we both enjoy."

"Chicken buns? I think that would be nice, I would have to make a few exceptions but I could do it."

"Yea that would be nice." We smiled at each other before returning our attention to our work. We stayed salient before Mikasa spoke up again.

"You're coming into age. Will you follow those foolish words you said as a child?"

I stop midway cutting a carrot. Thinking a bit before nodding. "Yes. Those creatures all deserve to die for what they did to our mother."

"She was not my mother, Eren. Carla was yours, biologically. I was only adopted as a sister, your parents never got to sign the papers to make it official anyway."

"My mother was a woman that treated you as her own, even if father and mother didn't sign the papers you'd still be considered family."

"Those words have been said to me many times already. I know what their emotions were towards me and they knew I loved them as well."

"I know."

Her movements went to a stop beside me. Her slim yet muscular arms wrapped around me.

"Never forget that I'll always be with you. To protect and keep my promise to your mother. To keep an eye on you and help when you are troubled."

I smile to myself. Mikasa kept her word to what she promised, but only when it's needed to be kept. She always knew between right and wrong, even at such a young age where most of us were considered idiots, including my stubborn behind. She's basically my knight in shiny armor.

"I know. You remind me of this every day, so does that mean you will join me as well?"

"Yes."

"Eren come here, dinner is ready. Hurry before it gets cold."

I walk over the table where we ate all our three meals. Sitting on 'my' seat.

"Smells different."

"Different but better. I added a few new ingredients to keep it nice and tasty."

"You said that last time."

"Well, you are a better cook. Yet a lazy one."

"Haha. Your food is tasty, not perfect."

"And yours is, now eat."

She set a bowl down in front of me, setting down herself with a full bowl.

"Eren?"

"Another question?"

"I am a curious person when it comes to you."

"Alright then, ask away."

She smiled again. "Will you come with me to the market tomorrow evening? We could sign the papers to join the army." She brought her spoon to her thin lips, hesitating before she took it into her mouth.

"Alright."

She looked up to meet my eyes before nodding her head and continuing to eat in silence. It went on like throughout dinner quite, no sound, peaceful.

That was pretty short, but it was something to get a taste of. I hoped you enjoyed my loves.
