An Awful Encounter

"OMG girl, have you heard the news? Chase is gay!"

"What the heck? With who?"

"You won't believe it, Yojiro Mendez!"

Ito lang ang maririnig mo this day at the Royal Violeta dahil si Chase, the popular chicboy is now in a relationship with Yojiro Mendez, and who in the heck is that guy? How would a chicboy fall for a bi, because that's totally impossible.

Rewind time...

The first lunchtime at the university's canteen, you'll find Chase Nolasco, making out with his new girl, Amber Cruz, the sosyalistang maldita of Royal Violeta. Wala namang bago dun, every now and then may bagong girl si Chase, and usually tatagal lang yan ng ilang weeks.

"By, can you get me some macchiato please?" pabebeng request ni Amber.

"Sure, babe. Give me a sec."

On the other side of the canteen, you'll find Yojiro, running for his life to get some of the freshly cooked corndogs. Unaware sa dinadaan niya, nagkabanggaan sila ni Chase.

"Hey! Watch it." medyo naiinis na sabi ni Chase.

"Uh, sorry?" nahihiyang sabi ni Yojiro.

"Nah, it's fine. Hindi rin ako nakatingin. You good?"

"Uh huh, yep, totally fine."

"Well then, catch you later."

After that awkward encounter, bumalik na si Chase with a macchiato for his girl.

"I saw that, babe. Can you stop being too nice to people? You could have gotten hurt!" sabi ni Amber.

"Hey, it's no one's fault. Besides, pareho naman kaming hindi nakatingin sa dinadaanan namin."

"Ugh, if you say so."

After having lunch, Chase and Amber went to their respective classes, STEM Class B. Chase arrived at umupo sa may sulok ng class, and he found out na same class lang pala siya with Yojiro.

"Oh, hi! Classmates pala tayo. Sorry pala kanina. Ah, anong ginagawa mo?"

Under Yojiro's arms you'll see some gay drawings, because he is secretly is one.

"Wala wala, wag mo na akong pansinin, wala lang yung kanina." said Yojiro while blushing real hard.

Too curious, sinubukang kunin ni Chase yung sketchbook ni Yojiro. Pilit namang hinihila ni Yojiro yung sketchbook dahil sa mga kabalastugang nakadrawing doon.

"Oh shit. You're- you know?"

"Yeah, totally cool right? Great, I'm doomed."

"No, no! I'm just quite shocked, hindi kasi masyadong halata kasi ang tahimik mo."

"I prefer to stay hidden, kasi hindi naman lahat ng nandito tatanggapin ka."

Bigla nalang tumahimik yung atmosphere dahil sa revelation na yun. Napaisip nalang si Chase on how he would break that awkwardness.

"Ikaw yung Casanova ng university diba? Why tho?" natanong bigla ni Yojiro.

"Ah, you know. Tons of exes."

"Di ka ba loyal o sadyang mabilis ka lang magsawa?"

"Ugh, it's kind of complicated. I have a different ideal of relationship. Kung hindi na gumagana, pinapalitan ko na."

"Maharot lang talaga to."

The door smashed and everyone turned quiet as their Calculus professor have arrived. And it looks like it would be a hard time for the students' brains.

After class, tumambay for a while si Yojiro sa corridor, to do a typical shy guy act. And then, dumating si Amber along with her malditang friends.

"Ehem, excuse me?" papitik-pitik na tawag ni Amber kay Yojiro.

"Uhm, yes?"

"Let me just tell you okay? Don't you dare try to crash with my boyfriend or I will crash your face! You're not on the same level with my boyfriend and you'll never be. So if you wouldn't mind, stay away from him!" dada ni Amber.

"Okay?"

"Good, let's go along girls."

"Akala mo namang sinong maganda, mukha namang manika sa bangketa. Ew."

Lumabas si Chase and nakita si Yojiro na nakatitig kay Amber.

"Yoji, anong ginagawa mo diyan? At bakit ang sama ng tingin mo kay Amber?"

"Paanong hindi titirik yung mata ko kung yang girlfriend mo, tinatarayan ako."

"Sus, pabayaan mo na yun. Kung ano mang sinabi nun, burahin mo na."

"Eh bakit di kayo magkasama?"

"I'm joing the chess club, and I'm on my way to inquire. You?"

"Uuwi na ako. Nice talk, Chase. See you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow then."

After that long awful day, napahiga nalang si Yojiro. As usual, check the phone and open his account. He thought of searching for Chase's profile at mangstalk as much as possible despite Amber's warning.

"You've sent a friend request."

"Your friend request have been accepted."

"Well, he is fine tho."
