CH4PTER 7
We lay there in the closet, brooms and dusters lying on top of us. As a second cover, Nick lie over me. I knew he could see my tears.
We heard a BANG, CRASH, CLANG, BOOM!!!
Then nothing.
Silence.
"Is it over?" I asked.
He shook his head, cracking the door. Nothing was broken. The asteroid must have hit one of the classrooms. We silently tip-toed out, holding hands. We both gasped at the sight of an asteroid sticking into the school.
I turned and he wrapped his arms around me. I cried on his broad shoulders. He kissed my forehead. We walked away from the site. We would have to get as far away from this area that we could. We ran down halls until we made it to the 11th grade hallway.
We found a class room and set up camp there. We set our bags and rags under an empty desk. That's where we would sleep. On a counter that held nothing but a bunch of books, we set our food and water, and in a cabinet the wrench and the medicines. We figured that the 11th grade lockers were probably be more interesting than the tenth.
But we would see, wouldn't we?
After a few hours of cracking lockers we had come up with three more water bottles, one only half full, a bag of gummy worms, a pillow, three jackets, and a hat.
He let me have the pillow and two jackets, because to be honest it got quite cold at night.
We knew that we had enough food to last us weeks. Enough rooms to last us months. Enough lockers to last us years.
But would that be enough?
Will it? Read more to find out. :D
