Judy's POV
After I used up all my bullets in my guns, I took a seat on the bleachers to take a break. I glanced down at my watch.
6:00pm
It would be time to leave in 30 minutes. Nick was still practicing, which seemed to take forever. I noticed he was doing better on making his shots. Most of them were right on the dot. I'm proud of him. I stared dreamingly at Nick as he focused on making his shots. He looked so handsome in his little cop outfit.
"It's true what they said about vixens after all," I heard someone say behind me.
I glanced behind me to see Ralph Howle and his brother, Gary Howle, drawing up a conversation. I turned back around, trying not to eavesdrop in their discussion.
"Yeah, did you see how fast the got along?" I heard Gary add.
"You bet, Haha!" Ralph laughed.
My ears perked up immediately. They must be talking about Tessa and Nick. I also noticed Tessa was being a little too friendly with Nick ever since she first stepped in the ZPD building yesterday. Ever since they've always been around each other, sharing small conversation and play fighting. It was disgusting.
"But seriously," Ralph picked up after a moment of silence. "Do you think Wilde and Woods could be...?" His voice trailed off as Gary budded in.
"Well, they sure would make a cute couple. I don't know what or who could stop them from being together."
My stomach churned as I dropped my ears, blocking out their voices. I couldn't bear to hear any more. This was ridiculous. Wouldn't Nick fall for Tessa right? I mean, he has me. And plus last night he said he would never let anyone come in between us. Not even that vagrant.
Everybody at the ZPD knew Nick and I was a thing. Nick and I keep it low key at work, though. Before Tessa came along Nick and I were the talk of the department. Everyone would always say we would make a cute couple, possibly get married, and have a million hybrid babies together.
I was honestly thinking about adopting just in case. It would be risky for two species that have nothing in common to produce an offspring. I was worried about what the child would look like. How would he or she be treated once they get older? I would hate for our children to be bullied because they're different. Nick and I haven't even had sex yet, so, of course, we never talked about having children. Let alone marriage in general. I'm estimating that's going to be years from now. We're still learning new things about each other. We've only been together for about three months.
I soon broke from my thoughts when I saw Nick walking down the hallway from the shooting range. His eyes locked on mine. I felt chills run down my spine when he gave me that sexy smile of his. I bit my bottom lip, staring down in my lap as I blushed. I kept my head down, waiting to hear his voice, but I never did. What was taking him so long to walk up to me?
I looked up to see him talking to Tessa. That little devil.
I grunted, watching them exchange words. I couldn't really understand what she was saying to him. They were too far for me to eavesdrop. Nick seemed to be happy about whatever she was saying to him. He had the biggest smile on his face. I ever saw him smile that hard before.
Tessa on the other paw was all up on him, playfully twirling her fingers in her tail. Her eyes gleaming and ears erect with interest. Nick's ears were also erect with interest. I guess it was a fox thing. After a few minutes, Tessa playfully tapped Nick on his nose again and jogged off to the shower room.
I need to teach that vixen a lesson. Once Nick walked up to me he picked me up and hugged me. He was all smelly and musty.
"Hey, Carrots!" he yipped.
