i had to.

"yukhei, the guard said we can go in, come on!" his friend-ten-basically whined to him, wanting to go in as fast as possible and hit on the new bartender that moved from chicago. rolling his eyes, he shoved his hands in his pocket and went inside with his friend.

yukhei was actually surprised when he stepped in. it gave off a grunge underground vibe.  yukhei sat on a couch by a fancy looking table. not caring that his friend ditched him, he went on his phone.

after a few minutes, he heard screaming. his head shot up, he saw people with their phones up, saying something along the lines of "i'm glad he's back, the concerts weren't the same without him."

before he got to ask who that person was, they walked off. he was going to chase after them until the lights dimmed. he heard a few more screams and shouts from the crowd. shrugging his shoulders he tried to make his way to the front of the stage where he got a full view of the performer.

a male walked on the stage and gave a polite wave. more people shouted, begging the mysterious figure to take off his hood and to bless them with his god-like looks. he chuckled before sitting on a stool that was placed there for him. he quickly took off his hood and got his guitar into position. he strummed a notes before he started to sing.

"you were the one who ended things, huh? why're you hitting me up?"

yukhei was shocked, realising who that mysterious singer was. it was his ex-boyfriend from  a few years back.

"you're bugging me, what's with you? i was doing well."

yukhei's heartrate started to speed up. you haven't changed at all, he thought. you were wearing a simple black thrasher hoodie, ripped black skinny jeans and a pair of vans.

"you make me lose my mind, why're you contacting me now?"

yukhei realised something : that this song that you were covering basically summed up the aftermath of your guys' breakup. he bit his lip, and clenched his fists, if only he wasn't such a fool.

"of course, it'll be weird being alone again."

yukhei had broke things off with you two, exactly right on the day of your guys' second anniversary. he kept calling you after the split, saying that he was sorry and that he wanted you back.

"you need to stop talking or else i'm gonna fall for you again."

but at that moment, yukhei realised something once more. you have changed. you're not that boy he used to know who was beaten down by society, by your own parents. you're not that little boy he knew that'd always come to him after you had a panic attack.

"just stop, i need set up a boundary so i won't go there. i'm not going back there."

you looked confident in yourself, smiling brightly as you heard the crowds' uproar. the stage lights reflecting off your beautiful, smooth skin.

"april fools, don't play with me like that

anyone can tell it's blatant lies

down, you try to break me down, you're

a fool

yukhei scanned the crowd, surprised on how many people were here to cheer you on. he looked at you once more, this time, with bright, beautiful eyes immediately meeting back.

it wasn't me that was in your mind,

but why does my mind

april fools, i remember that day oh eh oh eh oh."

you looked happy for once.
