Dylan's POV

Name: Dylan Sanders

Date: April 23, 2050

Time: 0500

Location: Base

How did I get here?

How could everything go so wrong?

My name is Dylan Sanders I am 19 years old in the military and this is the story of how I got to the position I am now.

It had all started off like any other day on the base, waking up early to eat breakfast and train. But everything went to chaos, Sargent Daiz told me and the soldiers that there has been a spread of some sort of disease that is making humans go insane.

While there were similar symptoms, one of the most common ones are acting savage and trying to bite people.

In the military, there are certain things the government is allowed to say but 9 out of 10 its just orders we have to follow.

Each Sargent has been ordered to rile up their soldiers to complete missions on the east coast and would be leaving immediately.

At this point, all of us are wondering the hell is going on?

Well, things are about to take a turn.

Hopping into the military trucks Sargent hollers that our destination is 5 hours away. Getting towards the east coast, you can see cars overturned, fires everywhere, trucks, houses, fields, everything and anything the flame can get. With the fire departments trying to control the chaos of fire it was our turn to try and control the situation at hand.

Getting of the military truck with our gear and weapons we were told to stand guard and wait for further instructions. Sargent Diaz has ordered us not to let anyone threw this line of point.

I was standing guard with my buddy Thomas, Thomas and I have known each other since basic training and lucky were station at the same base. My other mate is Brent and he is on another team on the west coast.

Thomas" What do you think is going on"?

Dylan" I have no idea mate, hopefully, it's nothing too bad".

Thomas" Same here".

Hours passed before we were off waiting for second shift guards to take our place so we could rest and eat. We let our post to the new shift and would back in the morning.

At 1900 hundred hours Thomas and I were woken up by a loud bam sound that echoed for miles to come.

Dylan" What the fuck was that"?

Thomas" I don't know but we need to check it out"

Shooting out of bed Thomas and I suited up and exited the tent we were currently in to find soldiers everywhere running to take a post.

Seeing people run in our direction for safety because what was behind them was scarier. hundreds of people that looked infected were headed our way.

Planes were falling out of the sky, cars crashing, thousands of bodies on the ground.

Thomas and I set our minds straight to help the people that need to be evacuated to a safe zone because this zone is no longer safe. Sargent Diaz has ordered us and some other soldiers to take the non-infected people to the main safe zone. Helping people into the trucks and putting as many as we could we set out to drive with the other trucks to the main zone. As were already on the freeway for about 3 hours we heard and felt a big explosion, looking around the area we couldn't see anything but smoke and a huge flash of light.

Continuing our path 5 hours later we made it only to find out what happened to our squad. The government couldn't control the disease and had to order a missile to strike the infected zone just as we headed here. I couldn't believe my ears, Sargent Diaz is dead, the rest of the crew was dead, I could have died. It could have Thomas if we didn't get out on time.

But at the moment the only thing I could think of was why the hell did the government order a strike without a warning.
